I’m really starting to warm up to the idea of using an e-book reader. I think it would be kind of cool to load up a couple of books and just have one little pad to carry around. Especially if it had more functions than just allowing me to read the book.

Take the iRex iLiad which sports an 8.1-inch screen that has a 400MHz Xscale processor, 802.11g wireless connection so you can browse the net, and a USB port and CF/MMC slot. It will display PDF/HTML/JPG/BMP/PNG/PRC formats. You get 128MB of flash memory to use, but you’ll probably store most of your files on a CF card. It even has an integrated Wacom Penabled sensor board which will allow you to use a stylus on the screen.

The greatest thing about these is the battery life. It takes just 3 hours to charge, and can take up to 7,000 page turns per charge. Of course, with the e-Ink technology, it doesn’t consume any power when something is displayed, only when it is changed. No word on pricing or availability.

iRex Technologies to unveil its 8.1-inch e-book ‘iRex iLiad’ [via aving]

Black and white screen.
I got one when color will be there.
But, for the rest, it’s looking like a nice replacement for a PDA.
Do it have games ?
Well shoot, forums ate my post - here’s a rehash:
I just got a hold of mine after a post office fiasco, and it’s nice. The screen is about as long as the average person’s hand (from wrist base to third finger, and reads precisely as a book/newspaper does. The gray scale is simply amazing, battery life is really nice, and overall a really handy device.
These are going for $700 USD at irextechnologies.com
The box comes with the following:
AC charger with 1 US 2 prong plug and 3 international ones
‘Docking station’ of sorts (iLiad doesn’t actually sit in it, more like a central hub) with connections for iLiad power connector (think iPod connector), ethernet port, AC adapter power connector, and 4 wire managers to slip wires through as they come out of the ports (not really that effective).
No ethernet cord included, so bring your own.

The eBooks are the devices to rule the world in future., The price should be affordable..i.e., should be around US$150 to 200 so that every one can buy & help in saving the environment.
Been working with it all night doing some math stuff and it’s a lifesaver (and as Swamy said, a paper saver). Extremely easy to read - if it’s got a backlight I haven’t figured it out yet since I’m strictly using the blank page feature to do calculations and already have a desk lamp.
Still waiting on the CF card to store stuff.
