iPod Security

Everyone has an iPod these days, well, almost everyone. And you see a lot of the same old accessories, from clothing that works with it, to special speakers that act as a dock for it. One type that you don’t see very often is security for your precious mp3 player. That of course raises the question, how does one prevent iPod theft? With an iPod security case of course.

No, it doesn’t use the latest technology to help track down your thief, but rather takes a low-tech approach to prevent theft in the first place. Basically, it’s a case with a four-digit bike lock attached to it. Why hasn’t anyone else thought of this before?

The answer is simple; it’s not practical. Just look at the size of the lock, who wants to carry something like that around? It’s not going to fit in your pocket, and that’s where it’s going to stay most of the time. Then you have a small cord that keeps anyone from running off with it. Well, not anyone that’s even slightly determined with access to cheap wire cutters. My advice? Just leave it in your pocket, and don’t bother with a security device.

These things just call attention to the device. The best thing to do is use an iDisguise case when you are not using the ipod. This is when most of them are stolen anyway. It basically disguises the ipod from would-be theives.
