Just saw a sample journal and you can download the photos. Just not sure about the size.

Can people download the photos or just look at them? If they can download, are they large files or just web resolution? Thanks!

no, there is not index.html. there is just index.json images (jpg) and videos (mov). I tried several journals.

and how to use these files? there is a directory “public” and inside bunch of pictures and file “index.json”. there is no html file or something.

This option is if you want to get a folder of files in iTunes to upload to your own web server.

It works in the rather clunky way iOS apps were forced to get data off the device before iCloud. Namely, you select that option in iPhoto for iOS, then connect to iTunes (wired or wirelessly, at this point), then select your iOS device, then select “Apps” for that device, then scroll down to the “File Sharing”section and find iPhoto in that list, then click iPhoto, then select the journal and name it, and then choose where to save it on your Mac or PC. Whew!

iPhoto for iOS has a decent help doc built-in. I actually haven’t used the iTunes feature yet for Journals, just the iCloud one, but that was all taken from the help docs.

A quick trip to the “iCloud” PrefPane on a Mac (or PrefTab on iOS if you prefer), and then the “Manage…” button show’s that iPhoto’s data is counted.

I created a 4 images taken by my iPhone 4S in a journal and then shared it to myself, and iPhoto’s data use was 4.6MB. I turned off sharing and that number decreased to 0.2KB. So there you go.

I’m kind of at a lost at what Export to iTunes does.

We’re still waiting on an answer for that one – but given how large these journals are (basically non-existant) I wouldn’t worry about them being significant, if they count at all.

hey does the “publish to iCloud” use up your personal space from the free 5gb? or is it not counted?
