Nov 1, 2010

If you own a Chevrolet vehicle that has OnStar as a features and you use an Android smartphone or the iPhone you can now get free apps that will offer you some cool features for your vehicle. The apps offer features that are location aware, interface with OnStar, and provide information about the driver's vehicle.

The location-aware services will allow the user to take photos of their parking location, set the location on a GPS map and set a timer to tell them when they are running low on time for their parking meter. The vehicle specific information can be accessed by scanning the cars VIN number by taking a picture of it with the camera on the phone.

The user can then get information that is found in the owner's manual like how to set radio station in the radio memory, and it can explain warning lights and indicators on the dash. The OnStar MyLink integration allows drivers to unlock or lock doors using the app and to start the engine. The app also offers info on the fuel in the vehicle, driving range, and oil life among other details.
