Everyone is wrong! The next iPhone will actually be smaller, and much thinner. It will come with a wristband upon which the device can easily snap. We will finally enter the age of Dick Tracy, and all the Android lovers will hate Apple more than ever as they suddenly realize they really don’t want a 5″ phone, but one that doubles as a watch instead. Form factor will remain 3:2, and screen will nicely show 4 app icons with room at the top for the front facing camera. there will be no rear camera, rather the front will serve both purposes as you move your wrist. This will usher in an entire new 3rd party market for accessories to ‘wear’ the device. All of this will be followed by 8 months of Android “angst” as Google-drones rush to emulate Apple all over again.

I don’t want a bigger screen for the iPhone. I’ve had everyone of them except the iPhone 4 and never once wanted a bigger screen. My brother has the monstrous
galaxy SII and it’s STUPIDLY big for a phone.

Update the processor and screen in the 4s and bam – ipod 5 nano.
Make a 4.6″ or larger screen into a nice unit and full size 5 would be at least decent. If 4″ rumors are right that’s just a plain fuster cluck.

The Nano is all well and good. But where is my iPhone Shuffle? I keep starting rumors from an unnamed source close to the project at an unnamed manufacturing company in an undisclosed location that Apple will release one, but nothing ever comes of it. :(

Can you guys please add a filter option to SlashGear so that I don’t have to be subjected to bogus rumours of iDevices? I can go to engadget for that! In your own words ‘we are 6 months away from the next iDevice’ so why blog a bogus iDevice rumour every day?
With all the tech news out there, surely you can not be this desperate to pollute your site!
Or is this just to apease your paymasters, Apple?

that “Nano Companion” is really just an iPhone 4s 8gb for $99 on contract with the “New iPhone” 4″+ screen in 16′ 32 & 64gb flavors. With China Times chiming in next to nameless Citibank analysts and Taiwan based Digitimes , all we need is the Foxconn HR manager to tweet the latest rumor for this one to be true. i still have faith that their iPad 3 mini predictions will be correct, albeit off a few hundred years

Oh please, you guys have been posting rumors since the launch of the 4s. They’re the same old rumors too. “Oh it’ll have a bigger screen!” “Its been confirmed to be a nano version!” “It’ll have 4g!” etc, etc. Really unless its found in a bar again I don’t give these “rumors”/”leaks” a second thought.

they wont make a nano.
1 people( like me) dont want a smaller phone, the phones will just get bigger.
2 apples competition is making more money with ibgger phones, but i doubt they will make anything like the samsung note becasue that is too big to be a phone.
if they werent so stubborn they would do what the competition does and make more then one moddle. i think they should make a nano, a normal, a large and put out the iphone S moddle at the same time for more money. to me that makes sence, but i know it will never happen because its apple.
whatever they are doing isnt going to change now because it is obvious they are designing an iphone if they havent already…

Nano usually gives the impression of something small (dwarf size) or nanotechnology for refering to the atomic or molecular scale. Regardless what… a small size. So it would be ironic to call it Nano if a bigger screen is expected. If anything, it would make sense if Apple would make the phone much more slimmer such as their approach with the Apple Macbook Air versus the other Macs. Otherwise, I would not anticipate anything bigger than the existing 3.5 screen to perhaps a 4″ max.

People say they want a bigger screen but when the iPhone comes out it breaks sales records and shows that people really don’t care. As for the Galaxy, it’s different for the Android market because companies like Samsung, HTC, Motorola, etc…. are in direct competition with each other and have to always try to be the best in the Android community. Apple doesn’t have that problem because iOS is exclusive to Apple only products.

Look at all the other phones on the market, even for people you say web surf, listen to music and stuff, WHO does not want a bigger screen?? The galaxy SII is an example, I can’t stand the 3.5″ screen, if they do not change screen size I’m switching to galaxy SII OR SIII

The majority of iPhone users are regular average people who only use their iPhones for music, social networking on the go, web searching, and playing games. There’s no need for apple to make a bigger screen because they have the iPad for that. But maybe Apple will finally put a bigger screen on the 5.

Apple will keep the phone more or less the same size. It might go up to 4″ but no higher.

As for an “entry level” device, that would be doing things by halves and Apple wont do that. The previous generation iPhone is the entry level (or 2 gens lower). Having a specific entry level device will cheapen the iPhone brand. Not going to happen.

I’m hate the screen at 3.5 and so do all of my friends with iPhones, and I am not a blogger, with your perspective apple is only for basic average people, but when S. Jobs was alive he had his products for the best of “both worlds”. Look at the MacBook, you can be basic, or you can go technical with Xcode, and Mac developing….

I think Apple will keep the same screen size. Most of their customers are non-technical, non-bloggers, and could care less about screen size. They love the current size, and I think Apple will keep it. Expect LTE, a faster SOC, and a better camera. Any other changes will be in iOS.

The problem in 2012 is that the current iPhone IS nano. (not that that is a bad thing for pocket-ability)
They could/should continue the current 3.5″ version – it’s not that it’s too small to be functional – but there’s obviously demand for larger phones, with 4.5″ being the new norm for screen size.

I think they should either make a 3.5″ and 4.5″ version of the iPhone [which they are of course entirely unlikely to do] , or else simply increase the screen size to the nicest compromise between the two to at least bring the phone to 2011 spec – a 4″ iPhone.
