The screen quality on the S2 is truly amazing- I dropped it several times while backpacking through Indonesia and one time I even dropped it face down on a tile floor- I thought it was the end but to my surprise there was not even a scratch………… shame I can’t say the same for my friends who have an iPhone and dropped it…… but at least you can ask your phone ‘what is the meaning of life’ – I mean, who needs to interact with the screen when you Siri :-P

A metal ball bearing dropped in the center would be just as difficult to control as just simply dropping it. The ball bearing would have to land at exactly the same spot every single time on both phones.

And understanding physics has nothing to do with the validity of the experiment. The validity is compromised because the experiment is not performed under the exact same conditions as well as a low sample size.

People that say that iPhone’s battery life is massively better don’t use their phones either. I don’t know what’s the fuss is about. Both fare quite badly when I actually use them as proper PDA’s

No surprise here. Now i want to see if the iphone does much better with that free case on it that Apple had to give away because of the droped calls problem they had. I’m guessing that it would still be really fragile.

For answers about why build quality and durability and are two different things, see the comments on tech crunch. I don’t feel like reiterating everything I read there.

I will add though, that a cheap particle board entertainment stand is more durable than a glass and metal one if you throw a bowling ball at it.. but it doesn’t mean it has a higher build quality.

It would if you knew anything about physics..

A drop test like this is like the buttered bread experiment… (See: mythbusters) unless you build a rig that drops it the same way every time and you do it 100 times your data is invalid.

A metal ball bearing dropped into the center of the screen would be the easiest valid data you could gather..

Let’s not forget, this is a commercial for squaretrade, and not a genuine experiment.

When it comes right down to it: I’m surprised the iphone didn’t break the screen on the first drop. Clumsy folks should buy a bumper and screen protector for either phone.

I actually downgraded… I have a 3devo… It has to be charged twice daily.

Shitty battery life, crashy… (Hilariously crashed earlier when I tried to reply to this.. black screen..had to pull the battery) But It’s a really good 3d camcorder for the money..

Was going to sell it and go 4s but the market on android phones has slipped massively on eBay over the last few weeks.. what was getting $400 now getting $260..

People who don’t complain about android battery life don’t use their phone much..

@tastygroove why can’t you be happy with your shitty incremental upgrade and shut up. I’m tired people talking about iphone battery life. If apple’s barry life is so great why do people have iphones and still have ipods. Obviously the battery doesn’t last that long because it makes no sense at all to havea ipod if you have a iphone. For example me and group of us went out for my friends birthday this past weekend and the only person plugging his phone up in the bowling alley was a iphone user.

A much more accurate test would be to drop something onto each phone square in the center of the screen…

Of course.. you are more likely to drop an iPhone… It’s always in your hand.. and you are more likely to drop something onto the gs2.. since It’s always on the charger ;)

Side note,my 3devo gets HOT AS HELL when I charge it face down. (To avoid such mishaps)
