WoW…. “vs” articles are for cheapskates…. I went to the store and tried both iPhone 4S and Lumia 800… They both are awesome in their respective ecosystem and functionality… So I bought them both…

The Store Manager tried selling me SGS2 as well.. Boy that Samsung phone felt Cheap-as-hell the moment I held it in my hand… On top of it the SGs2 deal ended when he said “FckDroid”.. Haha…

Suggestion: You like something then Buy it… Why search useless forum posts…. Make ur own god-damn mind…

Yes, but more than a thousand versions of solitarie count jajajaj for the App Store! I pick my Lumia 800 next week via Expansys Mexico. I like th e decision to do it internationally first. Is a worldwide citizen decision excellent! But carriers are slow to grab new models so I decide mine to be unlocked! I suggest a white version for the ladies!

Bear in mind that with Nokia’s Maps/Drive/Music apps and Mango’s integration with Office/Facebook, etc, right there it negates several sought after apps.
I’ve tried too many music, GPS, office and calender apps on my HTC Android device and have yet to find ones that work how I want.

Well I should have read this post before taking your first one seriously. Microsoft is know to have great if not the BEST developer tools and support. There are several articles and sources pointing to this. WP marketplace is growing at a rate faster than iOS and Android in their first year. If you really are a dev then you need to revise your notion of WP because you’re clearly misinformed. by the way if you code for WP — with minimal changes – you’re coding for three Windows platforms so the ecosystem potential is far greater than iOS or Android.

Exactly, that’s more what I meant. What most people use and need, is already in the WP marketplace. and it keeps growing at a fast rate.

I’m sure tastygroove really, really needs and uses those apps he listed and not trying to “win” an argument (right…). I’ve never ever heard of those apps or know what they do. However what I see my friends use on their BB, iPhone, or Android handsets, I can get on my WP. Sometimes they have an app, say WhatsApp not available on WP but then it comes within days or weeks (I alreay got WhatsApp and Skype is coming next month).

What I use often:

Netflix
NY Times
Flixter
WhatsApp
Flickr
AA
AP Mobile
Amazon Kindle
eBay
Craigslist
Shazam (after Mango I use Bing Music)
Emporia

There are a bunch I use less often. The are more more that I rarely use, if ever (I need to clean up).

The most beautiful app I’ve ever seen is Cocktail Flow. How’s the iOS and Android versions? Oh… :-)

Last but not least, I don’t need to open 45 apps every hour to know what’s going on. I have Live Tiles and can just swipe and glance at my homescreen to get seveeral updates in a second, I have integrated functions and Hubs. Peoaple Hub alone gives me updates from 3 or 4 social services at once. WP basically goes away from the app-centric approach and towards an information-centric approach. I don’t need a million apps. It’s funny that when I get together with iOS and Android wielding friends I can get basic stuff done faster on my WP (maps, search, etc.) while they furiously open apps.

looks cool, never know how youll feel about a product until its in your hands. I like both windows and ios phones. What it really comes down to for me how well it connects to other peripherals and camera quality. Pico projectors like the AAXA technologies P4 have been what i hook it up to lately. Previously i was really into different sound docks(which were always catered to iphones).

More junk trying to compete with the iPhone. Why do they even try? They should try to create something new like the iPhone was and not simply try to copy it. It is impossible to compete with the iPhone and iPad. They are beautiful, well designed products not bulky and cheap looking like all the imitators. Why would you buy a phone on a platform that might be abandoned by the middle of next year?

The sheer number is really relevant compared to actual apps people want to use. There are a number of apps on ios or even android that have no equivalent on Wp7 yet and which are pretty essential to my enjoyment / use of my phone. Various SIP apps for instance and some decent strategy games.

People forget that the basic functionality of WP7 is very good and that the entire design of the UI is to get away from apps and more into the roughly 6 hubs of general activities. Obviously, you might want a few specific apps like Netflix and people coming from a non WP7 device will probably be confused at this approach in general. My friend told me he thought everything on WP7 felt squished and he said, “where are all the apps?”
