That's assuming that they even go to the settings page. Most of us more tech-savvy users will explore the ins and outs of any device or gadget we buy. Optimistically, I'd like to think that most users take the time to do so. But, I know from experience that this isn't the case. I've now made it a family "policy" that I only fix a computer for family members once for "free"... too many times I've had to deal with stupid mistakes that could have been avoided if only they were more careful. This isn't just with malware, but just computer use in general (deleting important files, not setting wireless security properly, careless handling of hardware, etc.) As our phones become more and more just another personal computer, you can be sure that misuse of them will increase as well.

I think the biggest concern is that a lot of people will not properly lock Siri behind the passcode simply because they don't know, are lazy, forget, etc. I'd like to think that most people will be more careful about such, but history has shown this not to be the case. Look at how many people don't setup their security properly with social networks like Facebook, and you'll see what I mean.

When I read about this elsewhere I could see how it would be a concern, though not to me as I don't use a passcode. Now that I read here that it's an option to lock down Siri, it's one of the biggest non-stories since the iPhone-5 coming out last week.

The perception being someone is trying to get press coverage by inventing a security concern.
