iPhone 4 volume button switch-up; this is just getting silly now

, Jun 25th 2010 Discuss [1]

Not only are you not holding it right, you might not be pressing your iPhone 4 right either.  In a masterpiece of button madness, at least one new iPhone 4 handset has been found to have its volume controls swapped around: the button marked + actually reduces the volume, and vice-versa.

It seems it’s just a cosmetic issue – someone at Foxconn made a mistake with the two button caps, and accidentally fitted them the wrong way around – but given the value of mis-stamped coins and incorrectly printed stamps these dodgy iPhone 4′s could be worth a few extra dollars in years to come.  Of course, someone could just as easily accuse you of following iFixit’s teardown guide and switching them yourself, so probably best to simply complain to Apple instead.
