I also got fed up with apple flaws, restrictions and hype my Iphone now lives in a draw and have just given my Ipad 2 to the wife and now travel with galaxy tab.. Couldnt be happier….

I wouldn’t expect Slashgear to say the obvious since they are linkbait whores. But Apple counts only sold as sold, Android makers count shipped as sold. Since most shipped Android devices are sitting gathering dust on store shelves these numbers are BS.

One could say the same thing about an iPad. I see people using Android tablets *and* Playbooks. And, of course, iPads. If you’re an iPad owner, it’s natural you’ll notice other iPad owners using their devices. That’s just basic psychology.

What about people who buy an iPad, find it too limited, give it to a family member, and buy an Android tablet? Those people also exist. I got an iPhone, grew frustrated enough with it that when I wanted a tablet, I got an Android one, saw how much better I liked it, and will move to an Android phone when my contract is up.

I am using a Samsung 10.1″ Android tablet to type this comment. I do not understand all of the comments – you may not like Android tablets, but I am happy with mine. Apple certainly has had a headstart in tablets, only time will tell if that lead is maintained.

That’s because they are sitting on a shelf collecting dust.

They are only as good as a good android phone.. And if youve got that in your pocket (up to 5″ screen) why lug around a 7 or 10″ version of the same thing.

I think at 2016 there is no apple be logical “Apple whatever the money it has It can’t defeat all HW and SW companys ” but what why apple exist now? because the war between Google and MS on OS but be sure when one of them goes apple will goes too, just like 90′s and what the serious update between ipad2 and new ipad screen resolution? can human eye recognize difference? but really sad about apple fan”they still belive the new ipad have quad core cpu” but HTC one x have.

These statistics sure seem to contradict what I see in the real world. I’ve never seen anyone use a galaxy tab or xoom in public.

Well, the one statistic they don’t seem to track is…..people buy an Android tablet, people get tired of the Android Tablet, people give it to someone, then buy an iPad. On the other hand, people who buy Kindles, often seem to have both a kindle and the iPad. Amazon is smart. The kindle is a targeted product for a specific purpose, and its great for that. It would be interesting to see what the Android tablet market is, ex-Kindle.

Content to me is he big difference in the available tablets vs. the iPAD. I HAVE THE iPAD 2 AND AM VERY HAPPY WITH BOTH THE MEDIA APPS AND THE CONTENT MADE AVAILABLE. wITH THAT SAID, THE NEW COMPANY HALERON MAY HAVE AN ANDROID 4.0 as the closest COMPETITOR. The Antares Tablet. THEY HAVE BUILT A TABLET USING THE iPAD 2 SCREEN, 1gb ram, AND A GREAT PROCESSOR. FAST, AND NOW THEY HAVE A CONTENT SITE THAT ONLY THEIR APP CAN ACCESS. WHATS MORE, THE CONTENT IS FREE.

Wow… misquoting your own article? Read it again. 22% of companies plan to purchase a tablet for their employees. Of those 85% plan to purchase an iPad. Quite a huge difference there.
