IDC are totally incompetent in their analysis of market data. Their report on the future of smartphones shows MicroNokia becoming number 2 by 2015 when it has no shipping product today or most of next year. IDC's total figures for smartphone sales in 2015 are ludicrous since it shows that all players, even if they reverse their current rankings, still end up winners on market share. Their predicted numbers of smartphone sales in 2015, is about five times the number of people in the market for smartphones today. They have not even qualified their predictions by disclaiming the effect any sudden new disruptive presence may have on the whole market - even though that is what happened in 2007 when the iPhone arrived.
How could anyone possibly bother to listen to their predictions on the iPad when they do not even recognise it as a computing device?

these numbers make no sense. $34M for all other tablets. that means at average price of only $300 per tablet only 113k were sold. does anyone think that in total in 2010 only 113,000 Archo 70/101(not counting the smaller Archos units), Samsung Tab, Viewsonic Gtab, Nook(maybe their 2M sold isn't included) and other android Froyo tablets were sold.

Unless I am missing something, simple math says that Apple had 99.64% of the revenue. How does their market share drop to 83%? if 17% of the 2010 market was non-iPad, then 34 million dollars covered the remaining 3.07 million tablets sold for an average price of $ 11. Pathetic! Please show me where my thinking is wrong using the above stats!
