I am sorry if I ruffled some feathers. Fanboy is actually a pejorative term, but like a lot of insults, it has been reclaimed by the very people it was used to disparage. A lot of people who like Apple products now call themselves fanboys.
I could have called them Technical Evangelists, but that word hardly applies to the kind of people who queue hours or days on end just to get their hands on a new product, and whose life standards are defined by a company (I am not only talking of Apple products). Soon it becomes not only a product but a way of life!
I would love to say that I am not like that, but I guess that to my dismay, that we are all tainted in some way.
Anyway I hope that you enjoy your new ipad when it comes out.

I doubt the iPad will be coming this or next month my guess is July when all the kids are out of school with nothing to do but camp outside of Apple stores (the crazy one that is). I also think they may introduce the new iPad 3 with quad core processors but I doubt it, more likely boost the dual core to 2ghz to stay ahead of competition but who knows by then it might already be caught up, up it's front facing camera to 3mp so they can say 6x better than the ipad 2 (idk if that's accurate just an example), 1080p back camera, 8mp w flash (iPhone 4S camera) w advance features like face detection etc, front facing will be full HD as well. I mean if u aren't excited for that then u are just a bad apple haha. Apple learn from their mistakes current iPad 2 with horrible specs yeah I hate the iPad 2 it's nice looking but the specs are bad but hey I'm just letting u guys know the future of the iPad pretty predictable of coarse oh almost forgot Apple has been working on a new battery well not them but their manufacture for a year now and this battery will be on the new iPad that's why it will have that retina display.

Not the fastest. Not the best resolution. Does not have many apps.

But the web browser and email app works very well for me!

Higher rsolution is the most credible and safest assumption of any pre-release Apple rumor. Can't imagine Asus and Samsung trumping Apple in tablet resolution for an entire generation of tablets in 2012-2013.
The resolution bump in the early Honeycomb tablets was not convincing enough for the market to jump of the iPad bandwagon. Strong gpu performance and more apps made iPad.too compelling to move over to Honeycomb even with the resolution advantage. The new high rez Transformer Prime will definitely make the iPad 2 seem antiquated. If Apple doesn't respond with at least a pixel for pixel match to Asus, their leadership in tablets will take a major hit this year. Somehow, I think Apple will do at least that much.

Samsung is quietly waiting in the wings to make their Galaxy Tab announcements after Apple so they don't get caught in the same situation as last year, making mid production cycle changes to their first 10" tablet to match iPad 2's thinness. It just made Samsung look bad in the lawsuits. I hope Sammy comes around after the iPad3 announcement and trumps Apple in a few areas. More choice and competition is always good for the consumer.

If that rumor is true, it'll take one hell of a SoC and GPU to power that many pixels at frame-rates required gaming and other graphically intensive tasks. You'd also have to take power consumption and battery life into account.

No doubt the tech exists, it's just a matter of whether Apple attain the perfect balance and are able to package it all at a decent price. By decent, I mean something similar to the current iPad2.

Android tablets don't have anything close to that resolution yet. You'll only see it a few months after the iPad3 (or whatever its official name will be) is out. Apple tends to use their enormous reserves to make pre-orders orders in massive amounts from suppliers and OEMs, making it impossible for competitors to be on an even playing field in terms of bringing out new tech. Sometimes they also pay chipset makers to make certain high-end bits exclusive to Apple for a certain period of time (good example being the PowerVR unit in the iPhone 4S). Corrupt, yes, but any manufacturer would do the same if they had the money, tbh.
