I’ve been playing pinball on my Asus Prime as well as angry birds and they both respond beautifully. I didn’t know you could get Grand theft auto III!!! *BUYS*
As an aside, apart from gaming, the Prime really is a great machine. And the battery is so much better. Couple that with the fat that you can have a proper keyboard and there’s no comparison!

Completely agree. When you’re on a 10 inch screen, there’s a point where you need to ask yourself: does it really matter? Is it really worth making the unit physically burn me when I touch it (as 1/3 of iPad 3 owners report) so that if I hold it < 10 inches from my face the video will be a little clearer?

Cool thanks for the link. Being able to drive a hi def TV and use a game controller is a big plus. The tablet becomes your game console.

Apple doesn’t provide native support for game controllers on the iPad. From the article: “Apple’s A5X chip is made specifically for the iPad 3rd Generation, where there’s an A5 chip made specifically for the iPad 2, another different A5 chip made for the iPhone 4S, and yet another A5 chip made for the new Apple TV.”

In other words, the code should be optimized for each iPad platform, just like it should be optimized for the Tegra. Bottom line, you can’t take “basic” code for games, and expect it to compile and run well across multiple platforms. You HAVE to customize for the different hardware… even if all of them are “iPads”.

For this reason, the only good comparison is one that is with optimized software… anything less is a port, and would always perform worse than native-code.

Cause if it doesn’t then the Prime wins IMO. The ability to use a dedicated game controller completely sets it apart. I can’t stand using the touch screen controls for some games.

I own both the Samsung Galaxy 10.1, the Transformer Prime, and the new Ipad (3rd gen). The Ipad is much better on rendering text. The Android tablets are much better in watching movies, viewing photos: warmer color, bigger screen, skin tone on photo are better, etc. I watched a few HD (1080) movies and don’t see much different between the Ipad awesome high resolution and both the Galaxy or the Prime in movies.

Nice comparison, Chris. The overall picture on the iPad looks better to me in most, probably due to the clarity and pixel density of the screen. But both tablets look like they really come out swinging.

Now if Android could just get the selection of games that iOS has.

Android tablets really do feel more like laptops. They have file systems and the APIs are more open to third party apps. The multitasking is more functional.

That being said, the functionality is definitely there on iPad. You just need an app for everything. You can get a keyboard dock for the iPad and it can be every bit as functional as the Transformer Prime. My personal experience, though, is that the apps on iOS tend to have more features, are more frequently updated, and generally look better than their Android counterparts.

The New iPad and Transformer Prime are both beastly tablets. But specs aren’t everything. Saying you have a quad core means nothing if the real world performance doesn’t justify it over a dual core.

In ipad i saw there’s a frame drop in asphalt 6, shadowgun performs better in tegra3 with extra graphics.Its just like comparing crysis on ultra and medium.Guess what I saw hiccup in gta 3 in ipad, thats suck with loses lighting

You really have no idea until you’ve got both on your desk, which I do. The idea that the iPad is a “toy” is utterly absurd, as there are so many developers creating fantastic applications for it that are capable of creating content without the help of any other hardware makes this device a masterpiece. The Transformer Prime is nothing to scoff at, but saying that one is a productivity machine while the other is nothing more than a toy is simply not correct.

Uh… quick thing.

More pixels on the screen mean that it has to do more rendering.

So, you would need to compare a Tegra running the same games at the same resolution for this to be a true test of well… science.

So…. when that happens… let me know.

I give overall productivity and intuitiveness to the transformer prime because it has a dock that also extends its battery life. Also a USB slot, HDMI and micro SD support. It also has native support to PS/xbox controllers, mouse, keypad etc :D.
