The specs sound the same, its outdated its the same old thing, the battery craps out 4 times a day, But it cool you have Siri a rip off of Android. But then again you cant complain because older iPhones wont get Siri because well Apple says so, so all you iSheep can suck it. LOL. And by the way my Galaxy Tab work great with all my apps and its getting ICS. Again im sorry your iPhone is loosing market share to Android i feel your pain.

Apple’s Stock has risen by 300% in the last 3 years, and 4000% in the last 10; the DJIA and NASDAQ have been pretty flat over this time.

OK it has dropped 10% this month, but so have the DJIA and NASDAQ (approximately).

Apple’s stock has performed phenomenally well over recent years, and kept pace with the market this month; where is this ‘falling’ that you were talking about?

I think it is a bit of overkill, but with resolution on a mobile device too much is better than too little. Moving from an iPhone 3 to 4 recently, the difference with reading small text on webpages and PDFs is phenomenal; a real improvement in usability.

The specs sound great, and then you see the lag when you try to scroll… and then you find out that the app you want doesn’t quite work with the resolution of your device, and then you find out that your manufacturer isn’t releasing the latest version of Android for your device, and then you wish that you had just bought an iPad…

the speed in the world and the bells and whistles of retina display and 3-D are great BUT if it cannot play Flash………Whats the point. Granted HTML5 may be the future, BUT apple is risking the 80+% market share it has and basically GIVING the competition a foothold in the market. COME ON APPLE…. GET WITH IT…. throw down your pride and put flash on IPad3… AND you will maintain market share even among all the me-too products out there. Your giving them a niche and LOSING market share in the process

I think one primary, and useful, aspect of this article is that there is good reason to doubt a 1Q 2012 product delivery using these displays. This contradicts what others have been saying.

I still think 320+ ppi is overkill. That goes for the iPhone 4, HTC Rezound and upcoming Galaxy Nexus. I don’t think you need anything over qHD on a 4.3″ screen which is roughly 250 ppi. It’s sharp but not a waste of pixels.

I really think only Amazon has a chance to compete with Apple in the Tablet arena, but only because they can make some money off book and App sales. The margins are just too thin for any of these others (Samsung, etc…) to make any money.

Apple can basically BUY the manufactoring equipment and has a supply chain bigger and tighter than even HP, Dell, or Samsung. I see Android based tablets increasing in market %, but like the iPod Music players, Apple will RULE the market for a long time! Throw in iCloud features, Siri AI, and the iTunes Store and you can see why people keep betting on the stock going higher!

Mack, when you next get the chance… take a peek at any text on an iPhone3 vs. an iPhone4 (standard vs. retina display). While all of us PC users have gotten fairly accustomed to 96 dpi and are maybe okay with ~100dpi resolution, you’ll be flat-out shocked at the quality difference.

For me, the Retina display makes text and other elements far more readable and comfortable on the eye. Once you’ve used the display for a while, looking at other phones (older iPhone, Android, etc…) is really disturbing and terrible.

Excellent points and thank you. For me-well, I’ll stick to my 32 inch TV for movies, my 20 inch desktop monitor for home computer-and my wonderful laptop for portable everything else. I see no reason to blow 500 dollars or more on a 10 inch toy. Waste of money, waste of time, waste of bandwidth.

Who cares? Really, can the average person squinting at the iPhones smaller display tell the difference? Oh, those ads look great on a 50″ TV until you see it in person and wonder what fool looks at it for more than a few seconds to do anything.

So, a 10″ display with ultra high resolution. Just how tiny will the text be on that without constantly zooming? Your finger will cringe at the thought. All that allows are more ads and less meaningful content.

How about that data plan going out the window as your download limits race faster and faster to the end?

A resolution higher than the eye can perceive is like a watch that can withstand the pressure of being 2000 feet under water. Let me know how that works out for you.
