Truest, people are so childish when it comes to fighting on the comments section. Both of these tablets are great but like some people say, it’s really what you prefer. It’s not who comes on top or who’s better.
Geeks and android fans would enjoy the xoom a lot more than the iPad because it’s something that they like and use. They’re used to that OS.
Simple people and apple lovers would enjoy the iPad a lot more because of its simplicity and clean UI.

If it weren’t for the ipad’s success, then motorola wouldn’t have even made a tablet. And the thing that makes the ipad better, is that normal people can use it. Not just geeks. Normal people stopped caring about the widgets, and effects, and how much ram it has. That is what makes apple genius, and succesful. And the apps you can download from the websites can be malware. That is very funny to me.

Nope… I know ios isn’t ahead. First off I’m not a fanboy when I have both ios and android, and since I have experience with both platforms I can easily say android crushes ios in almost all aspects. While it’s true ios has a really simple and clean ui, android is much better in terms of neatness, and simplicity. Neatness- because you can choose what you want on your homescreens, instead of every app you download comes right on the homescreen, and this keeps the number of homescreens down. You can also have widgets, such as a weather widget, facebook widget, and a crap load more widgets that you can get from the market. Simplicity-because of the open os and not the controlled-by-apple os, you can have services running in the background such as wave launcher or swype pad and this basically allows the app to run with full control of the device, and in doing so, you can use wave launcher or swype pad from any screen (basically what they are is a little area of your screen that when you drag on a newby comes up with pre selected apps that you can choose from, or even running apps. While it’s true that the double home tap for ios brings up the running apps, that is part of the ios platform, you can not do anything like that from apps from the app store due to the restriction apple put on the os.

I’m just giving an example of something apple’s “intuitive” thinking couldn’t think of, and had to copy from android.

And tell me how the xoom is copying the iTampon sorry iPad? What is the thing that xoom is copying? Exactly, nothing.

On top of that, with android being open os, you can go onto file sharing sites like 4 shared.com, and download apps and music directly from there. It’s called side loading.. Something ios can’t do.

Android can also run flash, giving you full web browsing experience. And the browsers are hardware accelerated, giving you a much faster experience than ios.

Ios may not have copied honeycomb (probably because it’s way too good for apple), but definitely the phone platform… Froyo and gingerbread. Many aspects of ios5 are like gingerbread and froyo.

On top of apple’s already loosing battle, steve wozniak, apple’s co founder, even said android has more features.

Just admit it, android is ahead of ios and there is nothing that apple can do to change that. I have both platforms and these are my totally honesty opinions.

You know why they didn’t always place flash players in Apple Products? It’s very simple. If you’re a web designer, you should know this by now. Because of HTML5, we can already watch videos in websites without the use of Adobe Flash Players and that’s the future we are talking about.

Most of your comments seem to be biased already. Motorola indeed made a very innovative product right now but wait after 2-3 years. You’ll praise Apple for not placing Adobe Flash Players in their iOS devices that contributes more in battery consumption.

But yeah, I totally agree that Motorola Xoom’s specs rock. larger resolutions, 5MP rear camera, great tablet for reading e-books and watching movies but application wise, Apple gains more reputation when it comes to apps. Gotta admit it. ;)

obviously you are confused. apples iOS 5 pretty much copied every android feature, and calling it their own idea. for example, the notification bar. always on android, recently on apple. Android has and always will be superior to apple. much more open operating system, more customizable, and paving the path for all other operating systems. what really pisses me off is what apple said about ios 5: “with iOS 5, we’ve added over 200 new features — taking a mobile operating system that was already years ahead of anything else and moving it even further ahead.” First off, apple was not ahead of anything when ios 4 was out, and second, those “200 new features” are probably all stuff that android already has. and as a side note, what is going through Jobs’ head? if he thinks that everybody is copying iPad, he is out of his damn mind, because ios 5 is total copy of android.

Nwright94: I do not categorize them as being brainwashed, but a very similar thing is happening. For example, many of the people I know own iPhones, and about 70% of them own ip4s. But when I show them my Nexus S, you can clearly see that they resent buying an ip4. Its like what Adam Saunders said earlier “plenty of muppets that can’t see through the marketing”, when they introduced the ip4 white, people went crazy saying “OMG its white! I have to get one even if I got a black one!”. That contributes to why many people call them brainwashed. Believe me if there was no Android, most of us would go to iOS, and some of us would go to others like Windows mobile, Blackberry OS, Symbian, etc.

The only reason you say that is because you are comparing one phone over an inferior phone. Try using something like a Nexus S, Galaxy S II, Motorola Atrix 4G, Droid Bionic, or any other high end Android device then tell me which phone is better. The fact that Google sells more devices does mean shit and it is because Android phones are tailored to everybody – all shapes, sizes and features. It clearly gives the edge to Google and if you laugh it that, it only shows your ignorance. Go do your research and next time you compare phones, at least try to make the comparison fair.

I agree with lvrsn674. I’m more of an android fanboy and totally anti apple. I recently bought a Xoom and my friend has an iPad. Android is far superior in features, notifications, customizing your interface, web browsing and a few other things. It’s downfalls for me outweigh the advantages. Only because I have a galaxy S phone for all of the that stuff and there are just way more apps for the ipad. The market is far superior. Now that Google has finally implemented hardware standards for their OS I’m hoping it will get easier for developers and we will have more worth while apps. Sadly until that day comes, I wish I got an iPad2….

I have an Ipad 1 and just bought the Xoom wifi. Both tablets are top quality pieces of hardware, but I like the Xoom better. I like the more open Android OS. I also own a HTC EVO and love it also! The Xoom is a lot faster than the Ipad 1, but that is not a fair comparison. The Xoom has a higher resolution screen, a microSD slot (That does not work yet…waiting for a software update), and has full Flash support. It gives you a much better internet experience than the Ipad. I will never understand why Apple does not put a SD slot on the Ipads. It gives you a cheap, easy way to upgrade the storage of the device. The Xoom also has GPS, which I believe is missing from the Ipad2. There is a lot of cheap Android tablets out there, and I would stay away from a lot of them. The Xoom, as well as the new offerings by Dell, Samsung, and other companies are all top quality devices, and are finally going to give Apple some competition. This is going to be good for everybody. My only complaint about Apple is they way they market their products, and the way they grossy overprice their computers, but that is another rant!!;p).

The only reason why android phones sell so well is because android is ported to so many phones its not even funny. I mean come on, bath and body works sell generic $30 android tablets for fucks sake… Since iOS is closed source, they only have 3 devices running it. What this means is that of course Googe sells more devices than apple but that doesn’t mean shit. I would take an iPhone 4 over the shitty mytouch 3G I own (yes that counts as an android device.)

It amazes me how many imature people are posting on this subject. You all need to understand there is not a tablet that is the clear winner it is all about personal preference. The ipad has 65000 dedicated ipad applications while as the android platform only has around 100. However it is speculated that android 3.0 is a superior operating system which I would agree on. For me the choice was easy I purchased the 64gig white wifi only ipad2 I love to play games on my ipad1 and do not want to lose that ability. I have no sought that the android tablets will catch up application wise but for now im sticking with the ipad. And no I am not an apple fan boy I have the droid X.

you are right… but i personally prefer to have android tablets but only problem with them is they dont have enough battery as ipad has.. . . android 3.0 in form of honey comb rocks rather than iOS … apple has great sale of their tablets like steve jobs said 15milion tablets sold in just nine months and generated revenue of 9.5 billion dallars….. apple has great market share… and others dont… but android has some real cool features which ipad doesnt has them… again for me android rocks…..

I hate when people categorize people based on what brand they buy. Someone who buys anything apple=brainwashed, no good, fanboy. Perhaps some of us prefer it? Some of us could care less for specs and get it because it has great apps we use for school and such as Photoshop and other editing apps which android doesn’t have as good of editing apps yet. So couldn’t you say one who buys every new android product is brainwashed as well? If you didn’t know this, android isn’t “the greatest thing ever” to some of us. So please don’t categorize people who buy from a brand you may not necessarily like iTards. If the xoom had the app base the iPad did I might would buy it but it doesn’t have any of the apps I need yet.
