iPad 2 Jailbreak released as JailbreakMe.com updated

A jailbreak for the iPad 2 has been released, as part of the updated – and super-straightfoward – hack site jailbreakme.com. The handiwork of iPhone Dev Team member comex, the site allows both generations of iPad, along with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4 CDMA and various iPod touch models to be jailbroken simply by visiting the site and hitting the button.

The exploit uses holes that currently still exist in the iOS 5 beta, though the iPhone Dev Team expects Apple to close them off by the time iOS 5 releases in full. However, the fact that the iPad 2 still lacked a public jailbreak option pushed them to release this particular update, on the basis that there would be other hack loopholes in Apple's next software release.

However, it's worth noting that the same exploit also opens up some potential security issues for owners, and the team recommends installing "PDF Patcher 2" from the Cydia app store after you jailbreak. Full list of compatible models below.
