Now it really looks like an iPod touch how the bezel wraps around like that. The original iPad seems like more thought has been put onto it. Although I don’t know how much a tablet can be designed if you are minimalistic like Apple.

Why would you need thunderbolt on a tablet? Even on a computer, unless you are doing video editing and transferring huge files, USB would suffice.

The other tablets will never sell like the ipad. The ipad 2 is no exception it will sell millions and millions. This is all over the news this morning and radio. Does anybody remember the Galaxy S or Xoom making any news. Nobody cares about android tablets. And EMDK if they remove the keyboard and trackpad and add a touch screen wouldnt it be a Ipad? The thunderbolt port is useless at the moment anyway.

I’m fairly sure. Not powerpoint, per se, you’d have to convert it into a keynote presentation. I think it works well, so long as you don’t have any animations. You can hook it up with vga, component, or hdmi, but each type of connector is a separate dongle, sadly.

Agreed. I may get the iPad 2 (not sure yet) but Apple really need to pull their socks up. The competition is incredible. The XOOM blows even the iPad 2 out of the water, tech wise, and the OS looks great. I’m sure the iPad 2 is a brilliant product in it’s own right (i’m not getting it other wise lol) but Apple’s competitors, who Steve Jobs immaturely slagged off, have put more effort and more innovation into their products as of late, and I would have no qualms about ‘jumping ship’ to Android.

I’m not happy with the iPad 2. The specs are not stellar, no increase in storage, no 4g. I don’t care about the cover, as there is hardly any protection factor. I will not part with my current iPad for the few features added to the iPad 2 for reasons noted.

You guys always fail to realize there are two components to a product. Form and Function. And let me tell you, the iPad 2 Form is sweet. It’s thin, light, and beautiful. You all hardware guys would buy a car that looks like a box just because the engine is bigger and generates more power. I’d suggest you look up Industrial Design in a dictionary some day.

you are right but it has something no other device has iOS and the operating system matters alot, i want to see a google tablet get 10 hour battery life.

The people buying IPADS don’t care about specs. This will be a really nice smooth running machine. It’s really not intended to replace a laptop in my opinion.

The competition really doesn’t get it. The main selling points of this that blow away the competition are not the specs but this:

1. Month to Month 3g service on demand. I can buy it for a vacation and then not need it the rest of the year.
2. Interface. Very slick and easy to use.
3. Apple Brand. People know it will be well built and supported, and the eco structure of getting updates and software is a no brainer with it.
4. Cool Factor. All of the other devices look like knock offs.
5. Price. It’s just cheaper than most of the other tables that require you to get data plans to own them. Who wants to buy a data plan for that and their phone as well?
6. FaceTime. Lots of people will use this because it’s just so easy and so many people already own iphones and itouches.

The specs simply don’t matter(and the IPAD 2 specs are not bad at all). Apple is going to destroy the competition in this market. They are priced better, marketed better, and supported better, and they were here for a good year before the competition.

I’m not a huge Apple fan but it is what it is. They created this market and they pretty much own it.

Inferior to Xoom in what way? Camera resolution? As long as they are adequate for FaceTime, who cares? It’s certainly not inferior in size and weight. No 4G? Yeah, that’s a bummer if you live in an area that has 4G. RAM? Who cares, so long as it’s “enough” to run the apps?

Not happy at all with the specs. Their competition are going to have a field day with these specs. Not mentioning the camera specs is bad news and why no 4g? Im sure they will sell a lot considering how loyal apples followers are,but in terms of actual hardware it’s inferior to xoom and many other soon to be released tablets
