This gotta be the most BS-filled post ever. So you're saying that google/Microsoft products crash with 3rd party apps, that we need to program our devices to work with apps that are almost always undocumented?

To begin, try to write sentences with meaninful and ordered words ("have time to stop wonder they their 3rd party app is crashing").

Second, rest assured that my Windows 7 laptop *never* crashed (one year), but I'm not some stupid user and I use it for work, so I take care of it. I don't install crapware. My Nexus S seldom does (and always because I tried installing some crazy app or game, as I also use it a bit for fun, besides daily lifestyle and a bit of work). I had an iPhone 3GS before (gave to my younger sister, she is in college), and it did crash too, because I had the same uses for it.

Third, you gotta be joking. Almost all mobile apps are undocumented, or superficially documented, and that applies to iOS and Android. My experience tells me that on RIM they are better on that, but I'm not sure. Also, both iOS and Android are very well made, so many apps are extremely intuitive, so they don't actually need docs. Besides, most are indie developers (professional, but still indie companies), so users want they lose time improving the app, and not the docs if they are not necessary.

Fourth, I can safely say that both Android and iOS are stable (in case of Android, if you're not buying a crap device from a chinese maker). If it crashes, it's probably a rogue app. Again, my experience on BOTH platforms.

So please, stop the BS.

steve jobs spouts BS all day every day. what are his 65,000 apps going to do? 22,000 copies of the same crap. lets face facts, there is only so much usage u can get out of a tablet, especially this early in the race. if there is a good app released on either market, its going to be on both(if the developers r smart). android is still young and needs refined, but they are off to a hell of a start.

ALSO...and this is the important part that people never understand..... apple develops for apple, no one else. android, windows, linux, they have to program for a HUGE market of hardware and software.

apple fanbois, enjoy ur locked down, singularity experience with few issues(dont act like there arent any)

android fanbois, enjoy ur open customizable experience where u might have instability issues

to everyone else like me, thank u for not being a brainwashed drone. in the end, having an objective opinion that u can support wins the day

How come people don't look at the basic issue at hand with the difference between the Mac product and the google/Microsoft products? Why do people choose the mac over the PC/android when the PC/Android might have more features, power, lower price etc? Because in the mobile world we live in people don't have time to stop wonder they their 3rd party app is crashing their system, they don't have time to stop and figure out how to program their devices to work with the customized (but little documented) app they just bought. They just need it to work and work seamlessly.

As much as all the bells and whistles that PC/Android offer, in the end data is just data and we all live off data, so as long as i can have access to the data i need in a seamless, clear and consistent way, then I don't need to be distracted but zillion of other options. Give me the basics and let me get on with my life!!!!

Panicky??? Really? Apple sold 15 million iPads last year. Android is great, but it still has a way to go. It's nice to see some new tablets coming out and with the next iteration some real competition. But for now (as mentioned above) sale/marketing do make a difference, companies make these product not for our enjoyment but to make money, pure and simple. If Moto and the rest (Apple included) can't or don't make money, it will cease to exist.

For the record I don't own an iPad or a Android table.

Hello people. I'm new here, this is my first post.( I'm seeing that to many people are buying what ever Steve jobs says. remember, he's scared since that day that Microsoft "stoled" there concept of windowed open fresh GUI. since that day the only thing Steve jobs has been doing is talking crap about everybody that tries to upstage him. damn, in this new millennium people like to be told what to do instead of they doing it, they like to be controlled instead of being in control, they like to live with the phrase "what you see is what you get" instead "what i say is what i need". i really don't understand apple fan boys, they think they know a lot but when i ask them " whats the problem when you install a hard drive and the OS doesn't recognize it?" they know so much that they tell me is the bios. now i know why people like macs...the mac do everything for them in that way even my dog can be a technician..."want to troubleshoot a PC, ask pushi". the ipad looks nice but if your buying it because it looks nice you better be a beautician than a power user, it takes more than looks to impress. he says that it has 9x times the graphics processing..."we went all out with graphics"...but what mister jobs doesn't realize is that there playing now with nvidia, is like with "IAds" mess with Google with ads and you will get fried and now they make a statement about there GPU. what there trying to do?, make nvidia fight back. the ipad can have whatever it wants but the fact is: theres a lot of technology out there and apple doesn't make the best. think of apple like this: macs didn't sold a lot until the iphone was a hit, apple sold more macs when the ipad was a hit, so that means apple is depending on two devices to save them and the macs are just there to connect your iphone and ipad. read, learn and just base everything on what you come to understand don't let the apple i'm scared propaganda convince you.
hardly. OS X Lion will serve Android a plate of OMFG like Google's never seen before, and the rest of the tech world had be ready for it. iOS is nowhere near failing - but neither is Android. Mac vs PC is a completely different situation as usability was not the issue, power was. The best user interface will continue to be victorious in this new mobile war, mark my words.

Actully an adroit is way more productive as a PC than an iOS and it's fully capable of accomplishing more. Picking an iPad is like freely accepting the fact you'll believe that what Jobs is saying is true. If you really want to get a good run for your money look at an android it's the best option iOS is starting to fall and it's only going to be the same thing as Mac vs PC. Who do you think will be ahead?

So let me get this straight: more sales = better product? In that logic IE is better than Chrome or Firefox...Numbers don't say the whole story especialy if you are making simple combarison like that. Granded apple in 2010 outselled all the others. But that doesn't mean that they have the best tablet, it just means that they have the most successful in sales (like IE).

About the market share do not forget how the tides of the mobile market turned in favor of the android and that took less than a year! But maybe most importantly as we are discussing about apps. Think about that: Would the ipad be a total waste of money if they only had a couple of thousand apps? Wouldn't you be able to do the basic staff that most of the people are looking in a pc/tablet? Surfing, music, e-mail, (video?) chat, checking forums/feeds, some notetaking, videos/movies? Xoom does all that plus without itunes, better UI, better notifications, better browser, better google apps, better...possibility just because none controls it as apple controls the appstore! Apps are great but they are not everythink, I honestly don't worry about them on the xoom. I saw how fast the app market grew in android for the mobile.

first of all plz bother to read my responce to Gtodd93.

"Your talking about apps that were made for iPhone and iPod, so if you count those then the iPad has hundreds of thousands of apps, still compared the the xooms 100"

You are adding the apps for iphone to the ones of the ipad, but not the ones of android to the ones of the xoom, what logic is that? No logic. So do youreself a favor and learn to read and think, if we were to add all those apps made for cellphones it would be hundrends of thousands compared to hundrends of thousands (granded still ios is winning in absolute numbers but my point is to NOT focus on the numbers!).

p.s i reread my post is it that hard to comprehend that i am not refering to the 65k ipad specific apps? I said SCALE, how can the ipad specific apps scale on an ipad?????

“Your talking about apps that were made for iPhone and iPod, so if you count those then the iPad has hundreds of thousands of apps, still compared the the xooms 100″
