iOS 5 Beta 4 Released As Apple's First OTA Update

Apple has just released a fourth beta for its upcoming iOS 5 for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This beta is the very first from Apple to be available over-the-air (OTA). However, there are already reports that attempts to wirelessy upgrade aren't working. Thankfully, developers can still manually download and install this latest update via Apple's dev channel.

iOS 5 Beta 4 is available to the iPhone 3GS, both versions of the iPhone 4, all versions of the iPad, and the 3rd and 4th generations of the iPod touch. To properly sync, it will require the iTunes 10.5 Beta 4, which is available in Apple's dev channel along with a new Xcode 4.2 Developer Preview 4. The Wi-Fi syncing with iTunes also now supports Windows PCs.

The OTA update only works for upgrading from beta 3 and will require re-syncing photos with iTunes. And although there have been reports of the OTA update not working, it seems to have worked for many developers after several tries of going into Settings, then General, and then Software Update.
