this is a garbage drive, DON"T BUY THIS!!!
Guys, please no one by this device.

I dont like to be a hater, but after less than 4 mths worth of usage the drive is dead.

it wasn't even due to heavy workload it had around 600 mbs of files on its 2TB drive.

The great thing, Calling Iomega about the issue they reported that it was a problem with the firmware and from what I can see it has something to do with the backup file permissions or the drive partitions.

They offered to replace the drive under warranty but what about the data... lucky its just a bunch of media files but I just dont recall which ones where on there.

Iomega suggested I use their data recovery services, a quick browse on the Internet and looks like I will be quoted from 850-1500 to have the drive replaced.

I know a little about technology but this is crazy, trying to understand how to get files out of a squashFS formatted drive??

I've had to get ubuntu to try and see if I can locate the files and all I see when I get in there is a bunch of folders relating to the OS that it runs on... So i'm pretty much stuck!

anyone considering buying don't waste your time or money !!

WARNING ANDROID USERS!!! - This article refers to the Android app allowing users to access this NAS remotely being on the roadmap. Unfortunately, many months later, there is still no sing ofany development in this area (despite the ios app being available now!). All you can get from Iomega is that there is no date yet.
Given the lack of information, many are concluding that the claims of an Android app are false and it is less a case of roadmap and more a case of roadblock!

I will be returning mine and purchasing an Android ready NAS.

You've been warned.

Hi there, i'm looking into buying this piece of hardware. I want to set up a little file sharing platform in my house. Now, if I plug the NAS into the router, will it be possible for an airport express to extend the network of the router so that i can use AirTunes, the network printer printer AND access the NAS without having to switch between networks.

Hi there, i’m looking into buying this piece of hardware. I want to set up a little file sharing platform in my house. Now, if I plug the NAS into the router, will it be possible for an airport express to extend the network of the router so that i can use AirTunes, the network printer printer AND access the NAS without having to switch between networks.
