"Interstellar" teaser trailer appears: film to launch Nov. 2014

The first teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan's movie Interstellar is out, and it is mean. It points out the fact that NASA shuttered its space shuttle program in 2011, asking whether we have forgotten that we're still pioneers. Low blow, Interstellar.

Nolan is perhaps most well known among our audience for his epic Batman movies of the past few years. In Interstellar, he does seem to be continuing with that whole "be epic" motif he's been working on. It doesn't reveal much but we find it irresistible.

The trailer runs through a short history of the world as it pertains to overcoming adversity and exploring new places. Then we see Matthew McConaughey driving off down a dusty dirt road in a beat-up blue pickup truck and a rocket lifting off over a cornfield in this distance, implying that exploration is at the heart of the classic common man archetype. It doesn't reveal a whole lot about the plot itself.

IMDB has Christopher Nolan, Jonathan Nolan and Kip Thorne as the writers. Jessica Chastain and Anne Hathaway join McConaughey as the top-billed actors. Interstellar is set for launch Novemeber 2014.
