They already have. Anymore it is not what is keeping them out, it is just barriers to entry and Intel themselves(they are insisting on OS design-only allowing OS' that will show off how excellent their processors are. This is because there is an inherent limitation in the OS on speed and Intel wants to release a processor that is significantly faster than ARM's so that it differentiates itself, but if the OS is limited to ARM's speed then the two processors will seems similar. There is an anandtech article on it from a while back.

I was wondering about this. If Intel is fabbing it, it will be fabbed at a smaller size, helps Apple be among the best.

The main thing that I wondered though...Intel explicitly said they would not use MS phone OS' (WP7 or WP8) for medfield because they were to poorly designed. They said Android could be adapted, MeeGo was going to be perfected, but they didnt mention WebOS or iOS, which very much made me wonder.

By the way to clear up misconceptions out there (probably yours!) Medfield(intels phone processor) is more power efficient AND more powerful. It is a competitor (performance wise) with the Tegra 3 and the Tegra three is more power hungry, plus by the time the Tegra 3 is out the Next Gen Medfield processor will be out. See the Anandtech article on it if your curious.

Brings us back around to I wonder if Apple WILL integrate medfield. (and yes I know this article is only about fabbing. Im just doing some analysis off of the data).
