I appreciate Intel’s efforts, especially considering that they are unifying older standards and providing backward compatibility. I have no doubt that we can make use of increased speeds of transfer, too.

But for f*ck’s sake, it’s just a cable, ENOUGH already with the dozens of articles about Light Peak, Thunderbolt, Twilight, DoucheLink or whatever you freaking call it, normal people don’t give a rat’s behind!

I agree with you. I understand that “IEEE 1394″ and “HDMI CEC” weren’t very marketable names, hence the need for every single manufacturer to attach a different fancy name to them, but Light Peak is just fine, why create more confusion for the customer.

Actually, the coolest thing about it is that all you need is an adaptor for FireWire! I wonder why there is no mention of distance in the specs… If it only goes a few feet, that would stink.

So basically, when it moves to Fibre Optics, it’ll be re-branded Lightning Bolt, because we all know Light travels faster than Sound.

Of course, I expect my royalty cheques from Intel et al. in the post ASAP.
