Intel are aiming to take between three and five percent of OEM consumer sales with their Atom processor before the end of the year, but business use for the single-core version of the CPU is still seen as unlikely. According to Fudzilla, the silicon company intend to ratchet up their Atom market share to 3-percent in Q3 2008 and 5-percent in Q4, before keeping that stable in the first half of 2009.
Currently the Celeron 400-series is marketed at both consumer and business segments, and is 7-percent of Intel’s total output. The company expects that to remain constant up until Q2 2009, during which it will drop a point to 6-percent.
It’s possible that the upcoming dual-core Atom 330-series will begin to take over some of the applications the Celeron 400 currently occupies. It is estimated for launch in Q4 2008.
