Not a defensive feeling at all … I think your trying to troll just what I think and you can say what you think. Even someone else testified they run exceedingly hot in current reviews that are out in the last few weeks. I agree we will have to see when they are released. Also ivy is only supposed to have around 10% more ipc which is nothing really over my sandy 2600k at 4.8ghz. I don’t care about its onboard wanna be graphics I have two 6970s cf and about to upgrade to 2 nvidia 680s but will prob just pay more to buy the 7970s cf even though they are a lil more money everyone has them instock don’t feel like waiting for 680s they are selling like hot cakes. I got the money for ivy but it won’t be worth it to me. Haswell though I am buying unless AMD can pull a rabbit out of their hat which is unlikely but would be nice. I like AMD but also Intel. I favor the underdog though :P

I suppose that would be a defensive feeling of someone already bought a previous gen processor. ivy bridge is designed specifically superior than sandy bridge. a 22nm chips definitely runs cooler + performance boost compared to sandy’s 32nm. speculation regarding heat issues in some forums doesn’t help until its official release this april.

How would Intel be sued? They don’t have a monopoly on CPUs; they share the market with AMD. It’s not violating antitrust.

Although I suppose the other PC manufacturers wouldn’t be too happy.

Do a google search on “2012 macbook air release date” majority of analysts place date near April.

I don’t understand, why would Intel be sued for giving Apple early pick of processors? What legal grounds would allow this? Component contracts are pretty common between different electronic companies. Intel’s done this in the past with HP and IBM as well as Apple, and ATI and Nvidia do this with their console GPU’s. The contract ATT had with Apple to keep the iphone an ATT exclusive for its first 5 years would be another example. I’m positive that this practice isnt illegal.

I’m not aware of any analysts predicting a release of the new MBA line-up in April. Where did you read that and is it old information? Furthermore, Intel would likely be sued for big bucks if they gave Apple an unfair advantage over the competition.

That said, nothing is cast in stone so, who knows – you may be right. Just don’t bet too much money on it… :)

I don’t know about that. Analysts have been placing release date at around April so this would coincide with Intel’s release date. Plus if I’m not mistaken, Apple has released a few macbook’s with unreleased intel chips in the past, so they might have worked something out with intel already.

No, because the processors that are relevant for the Airs are not due to be released until June 3. In addition, Apple are not renowned for being quick on the draw when it comes to releases. last but not least, there’s the release of Mountain Lion in “late Summer” that they may want to synchronize with. So, all in all, you’ll need to be mentally prepared for anything from a 3 – 5 month wait. :-(

I would too if I were you. I too hope its not true but it looks like that ivy is going to be really really hot and not overclock as much as sandy. I have a 2600k I bought about 4 months ago and I am happy now I bought it then instead of waiting. I had a AMD 955 then AMD 1090T then 2600k which is amazing compared to the AMD cpus and next cpu will be hasswell. I hope AMD makes a good cpu again I prefer AMD over Intel just personal preference but I buy which ever is faster.

Right now I want to buy 2 7970s but going to wait for price drop since slighlty faster 680s came out. I’m running 30″ 1600p monitor so 680 barely out performs 7970 in that resolution plus cf 7970s beat 680s sli right now. But only until price drops a little

Yes this is what sources are saying. The first batch shipment in April and no one is sure there will be ample supply though and then the second batch to arrive in June. But a few reputable sources including Anandtech have benchmarked a 3770k and supposedly they are the final product and they run a lot lot hotter than sandybridge like around 80-90 c. And also ivy doesn’t benchmark as good either as sandy. Many sources are posting these findings and look to be legitimate but of course on launch day we really find out.

So intel’s gonna release ivy bridge i7 3770k on 29th of april? I heard they delayed it to june last month. Anyway if this is true then thats some great news.
