Intel add new Dual-Core CPUs to CULV line-up

Intel have reportedly added a further two processors to its CULV (Consumer Ultra-Low Voltage) range, offering dual-core options to manufacturers of entry-level ultra-thin notebooks.  The Celeron 740 and SU2300 run at 1.3GHz and 1.2GHz respectively, and each have 1MB of L2 cache, an 800MHz FSB and 10W TDP.

The news comes from sources at notebook manufacturers, though Intel themselves have declined to comment.  Assuming the additions to be legitimate, however, it marks the further segmentation of the company's CULV platform, adding a dual-core entry-level category to the three existing segments: single-core entry-level, single-core performance and dual-core performance.

Those same sources also tipped a general reduction in single- and dual-core entry-level CULV notebooks from August, of around $61 to $91, presumably as Intel further reduce chip prices.  MSI have already released CULV notebooks, while big-name brands like HP are tipped to deliver their own ranges in Q4.
