Intel 32nm 320GB Postville SSDs tipped for end of July

Intel's next SSD, a 320GB drive build using its 34nm processes, is being tipped for imminent release. According to details posted in the forums of Canadian retailer RedFlagDeals, the new "Postville" SSDs will be cheaper than the existing drives but have higher performance than those SSDs from rival manufacturers.

Three sizes will apparently be on offer, including 80GB, 160GB and 320GB, and they will all be Halogen free and offer AES 128-bit encryption. A 32MB wear leveling buffer is also tipped, as is a 90MB/s sequential write speed.

There's also talk of improved drive statistics and advanced NVQ features such as status aggregation. Meanwhile the workstation/server versions are said to be even faster than the consumer models. No official word from Intel as yet, but the 80GB Postville SSD has shown up on two separate sites, priced at $276 and $260.95.
