Instagram Stories can now have music to play alongside them

The week is almost over but Instagram definitely isn't. This week alone it has rolled out feature after feature, asserting that it hasn't become irrelevant in an age of Snapchat. After video-centric features, good ol' IG has not turned its attention to music. Now you can add more drama or excitement to your Instagram Stories by choosing a track to go along with it, while you record or even after the fact.

Instagram started out with photos but that quickly became too limiting. Videos are now where it's at but it's not exactly as straightforward, especially when you try to add an element of music to it. Not only do you have to think of the right one to go with your video, you also have to make sure you aren't infringing on copyright.

Instagram is now making at least one of those easier. Users will now be able to choose from a selection of thousands of songs to suit your mood or genre tastes. And, best of all, since Instagram is the one providing them, you're guaranteed that they're safe to use.

Adding music to your stories is easy, whether you do it before or after recording. For the former, you can swipe to the new Music record button to first search for a song and select the part of the track you want. But if time is of the essence, you can simply add a Music Sticker to an already recorded Story. Either way, your viewers will hear the music as they view your Story and will even see a sticker that tells them the title and artist.

There is one catch, though. This musical talent via Music Stickers is available only in select countries. Furthermore, the ability to choose a song before recording is available only on iOS, with Android promised to follow soon.
