At their IFA 2007 Press Conference Creative pretty much said “iPod who?” as all eyes were on their credit-card sized ZEN PMP.  The tiny device - which measures just 55 x 83 x 12mm - is easily Creative’s best mobile device to date, with a 2.5-inch, 16.7-million-colours screen, a choice of 4, 8 or 16GB of internal memory (expandable via an SD/SDHC slot) and support for MP3, AAC (unprotected), WMA, WMV, MPEG-4, DivX and XviD files.

In addition, there’s an FM radio, voice recorder, synchronisation support for Microsoft Outlook so that you can carry round your to-do list, contacts and calendar, photo viewer and more.  The battery is rated for 5hrs of video playback or 25hrs of audio.

Creative are making a big deal about the high-quality audio output from the ZEN, which is claimed to be 97dB SNR and as such “sounds as good as or better than many home systems”.  We’ll have to wait until we get one in to review to check that out.

The Zen will be available this month priced at €159.90 ($218), €199.90 ($273) and €299.90 ($409) for the 4, 8 and 16GB models respectively.
