Some of their legal battles were completely legitimate (such as the landmark ruling against Samsung for the design patents Samsung had clearly infringed). Others are much more questionable. But that’s why the legal system exists (as imperfect as it is), it’s there to weed them all out.

But none of that should take anything away from the fact that they did indeed popularize these these features. Which is no small feat at all, since no one else was able to make them as “approachable” and “usable” before Apple came along. You need to separate their achievements from these passing legal skirmishes.

If you want to be angry at someone, be angry at the way the legal systems works.

The Apple ecosystem is not about safety or security, its about taking your money plain and simple. And only Apple gets to control it. How can that be a good thing?

To assume you are safer with Apple is a lie also. Especially for say smartphones or tablets- Apple is a leader in market share, and therefore the leader in hacker targets. The same thing which gives windows and internet explorer their insecure or unreliable reputation is their large market share, and therefore a large target for hackers.

Adding a qualifying statement like “they popularized it not invented it” is bs. You and I both know they are going after whoever uses similar tech, claiming they invented it.

All I’m saying is they are not the original thinkers, they are the ones to optimize and utilize the original thinkers’ designs.

When someone else copies it’s “ripping off”.

Look, I don’t mind companies copying each other. That’s good for competition, good for the consumer, good for the market.

I don’t like Apple “reinventing” something and then claiming they originally invented and then using the court system to bludgeon everyone to death with money.

Even my friend got electric shock from using them… and the charger burned in a less than a month!… So much for reliability, that the seller (usually chinese) would sell Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 for a price cheaper than the market price and display it next to the phone that he claimed original!

So tell me how can I differentiate between the original phone and fake phone which is manufactured in the same plant in China using OEM parts? Any tips?

It doesn’t necessarily mean suck to stay in one environment because Apple environment is secured.. It protects user from internet threats and it protects business from being theft by hackers that keep stealing apps, music and etc for free….

It allows people to work ethically in a safe environment… That’s why it’s convenient to just use one trusted source rather multiple source that do not have any guarantee on your security!

They had great ideas and dares to implement it! For example Siri (Voice recognition/Voice activation) has exist long before but nobody dares to implement it on the phone until Apple did… When it works then these people imitated and keep claiming that theirs are better, whereas most of the voice activation/voice recognition were just developed by google or 3rd party app and not by the phone maker such as Samsung or LG themselves!

But what Apple did is actually buying and combining these features and technologies then turn it into something COOL. Of course there are also technologies that they exclusively invent and incorporate it into their devices!

They have turn dull and dead technologies into something better and livelier than before. It actually revolutionize the way people live before and does work perfectly to serve it’s purposes!

When Android enters the market, it competes with almost all Apple devices. Whatever Apple devices can do, it can also do. Sometimes it works even better and works on open source platform. In one way it’s good to have competitor; but when things turn ugly and people start mocking as well as destroying iphone for fun to destroy it’s reputation; I began to wonder why are these so called Android fan just destroy things for fun.

To be exact no invention is perfect and can work forever. Every single component in each devices as well as mechanical parts has it’s own lifetime! That’s what I’ve learnt in engineering (my study field). There’s no full-proof device that can last forever. If you think that Apple has done wrong by limiting it’s copyright exclusively to itself then why not settle it in court? Apple has offered for example Samsung to utilize Apple features legally by paying the royalty; but they refused in the end they got sued in court!

To be simple… if you love your devices then just stick to it and don’t mock others while you keep imitating them… It does seems like a pervert stalking a victim defenselessly! Of course there are things that Apple also learnt and incorporate from Androids, but that doesn’t mean you have the right to mock and hate it!…

The only thing is that you guys can’t accept is that Apples fan claims that Apple is the first or inventor of certain things out of ignorant. But you also cannot deny that you all has been mimicking Apple devices since the beginning!….

So have a positive mind and I’m sorry if my post did disturbed others feeling! It’s just that I used both devices made by Androids and Apple, I know their strength and weaknesses; but I can’t stand when people mocking and destroying others reputation for the sake of their selfishness!…

They revolutionize how people think, work and interact with each other. They also create and redefine existing market into something livelier and not dull as previously.

Even SAMSUNG, LG, SONY , etc consumes others technology in their devices. They also outsources and incorporates a lot of others (OEM) parts in their products, same what Apple did!

But they FAILED at making things simpler, effective, cool and problem-solving-device like Apple did. They just simply wait what Apple release product and then create their own version of devices and claiming it’s much better! Lame! Whereas it’s just doesn’t feel as good as Apple did……

Other just copy what Apple do, and claimed theirs is better… Simply to say that they arrived late to the party!

Apple sells directly to end users as well as retailers and carriers. Therefore, their numbers are actually scewed more so.

Google “Samsung watch phone”.

Personally I think the patent system as it exists today is quite dysfunctional. So I somewhat agree with you on that front.

But to say Apple is “doing nothing” is RIDICULOUS. If what they can do “nothing” and still became the most profitable company in history, what the heck is everyone else doing? Less then nothing!

And Apple does not make anything. Apple just buys components from Samsung and others when Samsung and others have those components ready for the mass market. Apple did nothing. Just sit back, wait and buy at the right time, and sell at the right time. That does not provide Apple with any merit in the way of being allowed any valid patent to somehow block a competitor.

I knew someone would try to make it seem like I said that. Also I never owned an Apple product in my life. I own a Nexus 4, they too have an “evil app store”, also known as Google Play.

What I did say is they SET THE TREND by POPULARIZING all of these features in products that grew their market MASSIVELY.

Modern Multi-touch was invented by a company called Fingerworks. Apple purchased them and used their tech. But it was around long before, i.e. 1970s.

iTunes is an online store. I don’t see anything different about it then amazon except its required to use iAnythings.

The “App Store” is the same as iTunes, just a store.

It must suck living in that universe where being required to use a certain company’s software or stores to utilize a product. Worse yet… you believe its a good thing? wow

I’ve used android based device such as Samsung and Sony. I even used 3GS before and they all got their own strength and weaknesses over each other… So why must you be mocking iphone/apple so bad? if you don’t like it then stick to your favorite phone happily….

Yes.. you can’t deny that iphone revolutionize the phone by making what others try to make as it is now! Before people were depending on stylus to write but now they are independent of it…Accelerometer – before people doesn’t even rotate their phone and it will be lucky enough to see that they have portrait or landscape view.. hand gestures etc…AppStore – before we had to spend hundreds of dollars to PC just to buy the software in CDs form, but now we can buy apps as low as USD 0.99 online…which is quite cheap, fast and reliable!

The point is Apple recreate and innovate older technology into something beneficial and relevant to life! I remember before that the windows XP based tablet PC is much way bigger, heavier and not practical to be used as portable tablet.. and the battery life is sucks!

What happens to ANDROIDS is that they claim that Apple is also copying and stealing from others whereas they are also following Apple direction… they just recreate what Apple does and claim they are genuine!…It makes me sick..

It’s true that in certain areas ANDROIDS has improved alot and even surpassed IOS, but IOS has its own distinct features that ANDROIDS would just have to admit its limit! Believe me… you can’t expect to produce a FERRARI which can carry load of 3 tonnes in a rally dirt track and win in every match!…. It goes the same to both ios and androids.

Face it, whether you like Apple products or not, they completely changed the course of the industry by popularizing those features. Lets not forget what smartphones used to mean: non-touch, tiny display BB with no Apps, or horrible stylus Windows phones with no App store. (Both of which I owned at their times, and couldn’t envision anything much better). Pretty much the same goes for tablets.
