I first downloaded foursquare only as a way to check in to Facebook. Later I realize I just needed the Facebook app. My friends all had high scores between 20 and 100 as no one really cared enough to get points, rather just check in to say “here I am, come join me”

One day, I accept a friend request and notice his score is 600+ and his high score is 780.
I figure out he is checking into places he’s invented and into his 140 mayorships and places he’s just driving by.

I decide, now this game finally sounds fun. New rules, new goals, how many points I can get per check-in, day, or week. I discovered how many check ins before Rapid-Fire, how to check in further away by turning off the GPS and how to delete check ins that didn’t give me at least 9 points.

So I doubled my friend’s high score and currently working on surpassing his total number of mayorships. I created lists that I save places entitled “Five Days or Less”, “One Day to Go”, to help me track places to check into. I find places that don’t have mayorships or the ratio of number of people and number of check-ins are equal. 300 total people with only 305 total check ins means it can go on my “Five Days or Less” list. In less than a week, I have 125 mayorships and still 100+ in my lists. Soon I double my friend’s total mayorships and move on to badges.

I know nothing on badges other than I have 31 to his 52 and haven’t focused on cheating on them yet.

I thought this game was stupid before. It takes a lot more strategy and planning to beat a cheater asset his own game. Once I take all three titles from him, I will likely stop playing as then the game will be boring again.

I always love a challenge.

P.S.
I don’t believe we are cheating as we have made a new game out of this game.

Haha, great post… I don’t think you’re the only one. One of my friends has over 200 badges at skill level 10, she is happy to sit there checking into different locations.

I guess that says it all about the values and state of our society. Rather than hold the position “I am going to cheat at this game because the ability to cheat exists and other people are going to do it”, I would rather hold the position of “I know I can cheat at this game, but I’m not going to because I value my integrity”. I know its only a game, but most peoples values don’t change when they are faced with other more fundamental choices.

LOL… perfect read! Its so flawed that I myself have wondered “what if I checked in somewhere across the road?”. I never did it as I found it pretty pointless to check in somewhere I’m not going to go.

But the Foursquare system is ridiculously flawed. How has it been like that for so long is really beyond me but its needs to be fixed or else people will start realising that it doesn’t really hold any value.
