As bizarre and vaguely unsettling gaming peripherals go, the Hudson Karaoke JOYSOUND Wii microphone certainly packs a punch. Intended for karaoke-loving Japanese gamers whose neighbors aren’t quite so keen on singing, the USB microphone has a chin-enveloping rubber cup to reduce noise leak.
Anybody concerned about hygiene will be glad to hear that the rubber cup is removable from the microphone and can be washed (though probably isn’t dishwasher-safe). It’s also Windows XP and Vista compatible, so your awful singing can travel cross-platform.
The Hudson Karaoke JOYSOUND Wii microphone is available in Japan now, priced at 3,480 yen ($35.47). Alternatively they’ll sell you a set complete with headphones for even quieter gameplay, for a thousand yen more.
