Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD coming in August for under $500

Huawei announced a plethora of devices back at MWC 2012, one of which was the MediaPad 10 FHD tablet. Things have been pretty quiet regarding the tablet, but Yu Chengdong, Senior Vice President of Huawei, has taken to Weibo to give everyone an update on the specs and release date of the tablet. The tablet will make its debut in China in August, with the price expected to be less than 3,000 CNY (~$470).

The MediaPad 10 FHD will feature Huawei's custom quad-core processor clocked at 1.5Ghz, 2GB of RAM, and a 10.1-inch IPS screen with a 1920x1200 resolution. An 8-megapixel camera can be found on the rear, and a 1.3-megapixel camera is on the front for video calls. Storage is a little low at 8GB, but the tablet also comes with a microSD card slot. Ice Cream Sandwich will be loaded on the tablet out of the box, and there will be connectivity options for HSPA+ up to 42Mbit/s as well as LTE. The whole shebang is 8.8mm thick and weighs just shy of 600g.

As for battery life, Yu Chengdong says that the tablet should manage around 9 hours of 720p video, or 7 hours of 1080p. Standby battery life is pegged at a lofty 83 days using WiFi, or 33 days using HSPA+. There's no word on if the tablet will make an appearance in Europe or the United States, but we imagine Huawei won't sit idly by as ZTE continues to send its own devices over to the west.
