Huawei Mate 9 Pro revealed with curved screen thanks to leaked renders

Another week, another leak (sorry, that was terrible, I know). This time we're getting the first look at Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei's new Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro, devices which are scheduled to be announced at an event in Munich, Germany on November 3rd. The leaks come in the form of official renders for the large, 5.9-inch Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro, with the latter model featuring curved screen edges, which are rapidly becoming commonplace.

The renders show the display, sides, and backs of both the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro, each in a lilac purple color. Among the features confirmed in these images are fingerprint scanners and dual-lens cameras — believed to be the same as the Huawei P9 — on the rear of both models, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top of the flat-screened Mate 9.

Also on the top appears to be an IR blaster, while the bottom edges USB Type-C ports, with the Mate 9 Pro also features twin speaker grilles, although that could simply be a design choice, with one side merely hiding the microphone.

The specs for the two phones are currently expected to include a 5.9-inch QHD display for the Mate 9 Pro, with the regular Mate 9 receiving a Full HD display, while both will be powered by a 64-bit, octa-core Kirin 960 processor. Memory and storage options are likely to come in the form of 4GB of RAM paired with 64GB or 128GB of storage, along with a 6GB of RAM & 256GB of storage configuration for supporting Google's new Daydream VR platform.
