Huawei Ascend P6 confirmed: June 18 event set for details

The Huawei Ascend P6 has been revealed for the first time this week by is manufacturer, being made official with a single up-close photo that teases the industrial design of the device. This machine will be detailed in full at a June 18th event held by Huawei where they'll also make clear the full physical body of the device along with its unique user interface atop Android. While this isn't the first we've heard of the device, it is the first time Huawei has both confirmed it and called out the rest of the industry with a suggestion that they've created a machine that out-does the competition.

Of course if you're an Android Community follower, you've already seen this device leaked twice. In one case, this machine was shown to be a tall, thin smartphone made primarily of aluminum. In the other, press images of the device were shown, and the user interface on top of Android as well as two SIM card slots were made apparent.

This newest appearance straight from Huawei, the company compels viewers to "guess how large the screen to body ratio is" and suggests that this device "challenges all phones to be the thinnest, smallest, and one of the most compact smart phones with a screen that can rival it's competitors." It will be interesting to see how the company intends on competing in the international marketplace with this design, that's for certain.

And just so it doesn't go unsaid: this newest photo shows the Ascend P6 to look strikingly similar to Apple's design for the iPhone 5. Comments on Huawei's original Facebook post announcing the phone as well as those appearing in threads previous to this first official look have made it clear: prospective users believe this design to be heavily influenced by the Apple-made competition.
