With MS and Apple seeing the cloud as the future of storage rather than client devices and the carriers trying to make money from data usage I either see collusion or a war looming on the horizon. MS and Apple are formidable players and will drive the future of mobile computing to the cloud. ICloud, Skydrive and Dropbox are the future…..let’s see the battle begin. Who needs to store all that data one one device when you can have it available on all your devices no matter where you are.

Keyword “offers”! Apple releases and announces the 16GB version but they make such a lousy amount of them that supply is sold out almost immediately which forces people to spend the extra $100 on the 32GB which puts that extra $100 in Apple’s pocket. Damn you Apple and your marketing magic!

Yep, here in France, too, they’ve started to kill unlimited data plans. SFR has gone so far as nix my old unlimited plan behind my back and is now charging me when I go over 500mb/month!!

I agree; as tempted as I am to get this, I’m going to hold off till Nokia Day. The main problem I have with this is the LCD screen. I’ve never had an AMOLED, but from what I understand it’s better than LCD in direct sunlight.

Jeez, back in the good old days of October 2010, my HTC Desire came with a 4gb card, and no one complained. I still get by fine with that same 4gb; how much music and video do you need on your phone on a daily basis?!
It’s not that hard to add/remove data, it takes a few seconds.

I would understand if it was one’s only source of storage, but come on, don’t we all have one or two 2TB hard drives hooked up at home for massive storage?
I can’t imagine needing more than 8gb of music/photos/videos when I’m out and about.

I was hugely concerned with lack of space too. But then I realized the Skydrive integration is… amazing. You can barely tell if the photos you are looking at are on the phone or the cloud. Same for docs. Zune’s streaming music nullifies needing all your music on the phone at one time. Frankly, it’s pretty incredible.

Nice phone. Played with it in store a couple of days ago and it felt sharp, responsive and solid without being heavy. Windows is very appealing too – much more so than I thought it would be.

But… I’m in the crowd that thinks the on-board storage is too low (I like having my stuff with me rather than depending on the vagaries of UK 3G reception or running around trying to find a store with free wifi) and I’m not sure why you would go for this before seeing what Nokia comes up with for Windows.

That’s my point too. The cloud services and Skydrive are great in theory; in reality, the choke point for these services are the carriers that cap data, slap heavy overage charges or throttle your data. Until that’s resolved, the mobile cloud services will stay niche.

16 gb memory is more than enough based on the fact you have the skydrive to upload/download to. The reason 32 inch tvs do not display higher than 720p is due to the fact that the human eye cannot tell the difference on that size screen or smaller. That is true as well on phones. It is not the number of pixels but the quality of the screen.

As for dual core processors they are over rated and power hogs. If you need a dual core processor then the operating system or app needs to be improved. They already showed the loading time of a webpage on windows phone with mango versus iphone 4 and the windows phone was much faster.

Why is it ok for apple to get away with a 16gb phone and its not ok for Microsoft? 16GBs is enough data unless your putting all your music on the device. Great review can’t wait for this phone to land on ATT.

12gb only? I guess they’re betting heavily on the cloud… Not a good bet with providers killing unlimited data and throttling connections…
