the battery will last you a full day on medium to heavy usage OR if you only check emails and sent texts, you’ll get something closer to a day and a half. signal strength depends on how good the network is in your area. works perfectly fine in my house and around my city, but i live in a big city in minnesota (minneapolis). Yes, it will last you 2 years, no problem. Many people’s devices last them less because they get dust in them, the fold-out keyboards are all mashed to bits, and they toss them around a lot. this device has only a couple of moving parts and there’s really nothing you can wreck (unless you toss it down a flight of stairs, then i send the best of luck to you)

that’s crazy talk – if there’s any lag, its because the person is in a bad reception zone. has a lot more to do with the network than it does with the device, so it really has to do with the coverage in your area.

Watch the hands-on videos and you’ll see that the performance is fabulous – this isn’t your Android of two years ago. It’s not as perfect as Nexus S, but that’s a matter of opinion when it comes down to it. Direct sunlight is basically out, but put your hand over for shade and you’ll be fine – color and contrast is just amazing, again this is a top-tier device and you’ll be nothing but satisfied with it UNLESS you’re coming from a Super AMOLED Plus display (like on a Galaxy S II) or an iPhone. Battery life is pretty good, not the BEST in the world, but you’ll be good for a full day of medium to high use OR a day and a half if you’re basically not using it except for a couple calls in a single day.

I wanted to know more about
1) Performance – your benchmarks show that this is similar to Nexus One in terms of performance, but nexus one was a bit laggy in scrolling and in games (like Angry Birds). Nexus S was much better. Where does this stand?
2) Screen quality – colours, brightness and contrast. How is it in direct sunlight?
3) Battery life

I am looking for android phone to replace my girlfriend’s nexus one. The only problem is that all modern high performance phones have very large size and she is looking for something similar in size to the Nexus One. This one will be perfect if it is actually an upgrade over Nexus One.

If Android is ugly as hell, you are probably doing it wrong. The right widgets, wallpaper, a 3rd party launcher and some custom icons and you can make Android look absolutely gorgeous and completely unique. If you get into ROMS then you can really get into customizing your phone. Personally, I think WP7 looks the best out of the box but the infinite customization of Android is extremely appealing.

Whoop. I’m kind of excited for this phone to arrive in Singapore as well. I’ve
used my android HTC Magic for 2 years now and gotten liquid spilled over
it like three times. Dropped it from the tabletop many times as well.
Still as hardy as ever, just a few scratches. Pretty reliable device.
I’m gonna get my hands on this simple Rhyme.

Also I think we shouldn’t
compare this phone to high spec phones like Galaxy S II and Sensation
because in the first place the HTC Rhyme wasn’t made for the tech geeks who need phones with brilliant specificiations so that they can use all 14324123 apps on their phone daily.

I’m
pretty sure there’s a market out there, people who need a simple smartphone, smart enough to handle basic daily stuff like check emails, shoot photographs, text, etc. Think HTC Rhyme fits the bill, to me.

I think the dongle is a pretty cool addition. I leave my phone in my phone in purse quite often and instead of digging for it to see if i have missed any calls or alerts i do like the idea of just looking at the dongle to see if its lit. I sell phones for a living, android, windows and iphone. I am android all the way and have been since android came about.

I know its a girly phone.. i dont really care about the charm or the huge phone port thing, but i need something small and perfect like that to fit in my scrubs while im at work with out it being noticed, my question is how is it on signal strength, and phone how is the battery. I want to make sure that if im spending 200 dollars on a phone.. its gonna last the whole damn 2 years.
