LOL take a long hard look at the Nokia Lumina and HTC One X please. Even though they're both made of polycarbonate, the Lumina looks shiny and plasticky and cheap, whereas the One X looks soft and smooth and premium. Just because Nokia used the same material first doesnt necessarily transfer itself into a better design and doesnt mean HTC is copying.

Actually, when this happens, it isn't the carrier laying claim to the device. It's the carrier asking the manufacture to assist them in making custom modifications in exchange for a large bulk purchase of the device which would then be resold through different retail/online outlets. THe carriers aren't taking anything away from the manufactures, they are just branding the phones more in line with their particular strategy which the manufacture has agreed to due to large purchases made by the carriers. For example, the AT&T SkyRocket name was added to the Samsung Galaxy SII to reflect the custom changes that Samsung made to the device for AT&T like adding a processor that had the LTE chipset integrated with the processor.

Both great devices no doubt but i think HTC could have gone all out and made the One X a penta-band device..nothing but dollar bills if that was the case. They will be locking out a huge segment of the masses who want to use this device but the band is lacking for their network. For example i want the One X to use on Tmo USA but the 1700 band is missing...i am quite sure there are many of us having this predicament here in the US, Canada etc. Seriously i am ready to ditch my GNex (a very good device i might add) for the One X even though it lacks an expansion micro SD slot and a non removable battery. My only hope now is if the rumor is true that HTC will eventually make a Tmobile version with pure virgin ICS. The other option is waiting for the Samsung GS3..will see how they both stack up together. Lets hope the GS3 comes with penta-band or a Tmo version at launch.
