I guess you did not see all the Htc One S vs iPhone 4S camera samples. The One S blows away the iPhone. And iPhones HDR setting looks like it did nothing at all next to the One S. Thanks for trying though.

Sorry – I agree with the comment that the phone quality is just as important as any other feature. Suggesting the reader purchase a feature phone to make calls is a dumb reply !

Use a tripod next time so the pictures taken can be easier to compare.

I would really like to buy the HTC One S, but there are 4 points against it:
-No userchangeable Memory SDHC or SDXC, like AAPL
-No userchangeable battery, like APPL too.
-4.3″ display Amoled pentile matrix (better would be 3.9″-4.1″ S-IPS or redeal SAMOLED2)
Remark:
4 the whole “One Series” line up;
They Shold better make a One XE 4.9″ (S-note derivate) One X 4.3″ One S 3.7-3.9″ and last One V somewhere betw 3.4″-3.7″ would make much more “Sense” rolf =D
They should change that immediatly in the next Series release ;-) then I buy hrhrh.

!!Fanboy alert!!!!, u have no clue… sorry ifon cam quality always was substandard longtime worse then that vfrom HTC.

SE with cybershot was allways dimensions better then both of them, maybe Samsung and LG delivered quite smiliar good handy cam quali, but ifon was always the worst of all of them.

Since the ifon4s the cam is really good on AAPL but shure not better then HTC, because they use Sony sensors too. And guess ho old the 4S is 6 MT, my SE902C made better pics then ifon4 without s, and guess its 5!!! freaking years old und near same as slim as my HTC DS.

iphone 4s pict is over saturated by default where HTC is more natural

some people love more natural look, that color can be easily boosted with some apps available anyway…

should see which one is sharper image between those two phones

? There is no disparity between tegra 3 and krait in the majority of benchmarks – krait has held its own then some. See Engadget’s review for further details.. Furthermore, the 4s was release 6 months ago. The comparison is more than fair friend.

I am no iOS fan but I would give credit where it is due, the iphone 4s was release 6 months ago as you recall. Many mid level device 6 months later would hold its own against a premium device of today (unless it was a Samsung device :p – the S2 held its own against any android device released prior to 2012 despite being released in April 2011).

Nonetheless, the HTC One S is a pretty device that I would like to get my hands on – perhaps even more so than the one X. Unfortunately but I recently got a galaxy note, and i already have an S2 so I will have to skip this year.

Chris hows the screen on the one X?

I have heard fairly mixed reviews about the camera, how do the photos compare against the S2 or iphone 4s?

If Apple opened the iPhone up a bit, it would be such a good phone. Seem’s the only way to get full capabilities out of it is to jailbreak.

According to one review I read, both the One X and One S have the same camera (front facing is better on the One X at 1.3m vs VGA) but due to some other factors the One X took slightly better pictures than the One S. This could possibly be rectified with a software update but as it stands the One X is better so I guess the comparsion with the 4S above is further justified.

Don’t forget Sony and Nokia also have excellent cameras (so come out of your iPhone box mr). Don’t forget both the HTCs can take 100 photos with one shot to get the best image – something Apple cannot do.

I would have liked the review to show a more in-depth comparison and how these new handsets are a generation ahead of the iPhone 4.

The HTC One S seems to be better in details. Just look at the top left tree on first picture or the pipe on second one. Althought the difference is very small and they’re almost the same.

Some Sony Xperia phones have also a very good camera which is bit more detailed than the 4s. 4s has still a pretty good camera, but it’s not the only one. 4s is also using a Sony sensor – nothing magical.

I think so too. Just camera speed test was a bit wrong since on the HTC you just need to hold the shutter – much faster.

Just hold the camera button pressed and it will take them even faster on the One S / X . A feature of them.

The review only scratches the surface. It would have been nice to have specs of weight and size included. It sounds like I’m not the only one wanting the comparison of HTC’s top offering the One X, to Apple’s best.

they do but the part that says
”the S has a dual-core processor like the Apple-made iPhone 4S rather than the X’s quad-core” make no sense at all. it is unfair not to compare it with the one X because it is has a stronger processor, especially since they cost about the same. plus 4.3 is closer to 4.7 than 3.5 inches.

So, how do they work as PHONES..??? Everyone seems to forget anymore that we’re buying a smartphone that also needs to work to make and receive calls, but all we hear about are screen sizes, camera quality, and anything else EXCEPT how well the damn phone works.

I dont care how cool the screen or camera or music player is….if it cant make or receive calls when I need it to, it’s just an overpriced iPod.

Sadly, all I really retained from this article was both are good but the top level 4S was challenged against a mid level HTC One version.
