The new processors and software all the devices will have have been tailored for increased battery life and responsiveness, so the non-removable batteries are not an issue (not having removable storage IS an issue, though, but the iPhone doesn't have removable storage either and has still been incredibly successful; also 32GB is plenty as well). And how can you say that the phones are not trend-setting? I believe that the cameras and Sense 4.0 alone will bring the devices back up to heavily competitive status (Sense is, in my opinion, far better than TouchWiz) and the design is top-notch as usual but is now thinner and lighter. They may not be the thinnest and lightest, but the differences are so small that it's a non-issue. I personally can't wait to get the international version of the One X here on T-Mobile US, or even better, the AT&T version but also for T-Mobile. I've seen the benchmarks of the new Snapdragon S4 and it spanks the Tegra 3 in the ass and out of the water.

Finally some cool looking slim HTC phones NOT made for verizon. HTC is again setting the standards, no more throwing designs at the wall and seeing what sticks. Also the One V is coming to Virgin Mobile, definitely worth picking that up. And to imagine I was about to get an LG!

The battery is a cause for concern, although I must say my current HTC Desire HD with a custom ROM on it has extended my battery life considerably, lets hope the HTC devs have learnt a few new tricks, otherwise it will be left upto the XDA devs to make the phone achieve it's true potential.

I actually like the design, plain and vanilla it is not, and the spec sheet is as good as it can get today, this is isn't a common standard yet because the hardware isn't commercially available to buy on any other handset yet, can you show me a handset you can buy today with a Tegra 3 quad core Android 4.0.3 and a camera with f2.0 and a 1280x720p LCD screen, big fat NO, you can't.

This is the new benchmark in technical spec, yes there will be similar spec phones announced over the coming days at MWC but HTC got there first and the reaction + publicity so far has been fairly good

... oh, and who in the right mind would buy an LG phone?

This line up is rather disappointing- a plain vanilla design and pretty common specs by today's standards, not trend-setting at all. 1800mAh for an HTC phone? That's a spell for disaster if the pas performance is of any indication. HTC is clearing playing a catch up and isn't doing a great job, imho. This line up is not even as exciting as the new line up of LG phones at the same exhibition...
