HTC HD7 Hands On [Video]

At the top of HTC's hill, with its nicely fitted crown, is the successor to the HD2 in more ways than one: the HD7. Featuring Microsoft's mobile Operating System, Windows Phone 7, the HD7 features some of the same specifications as its previous iteration, which launched in the United States in a coupe of different models, but the differences in the mobile OS and its functionality make the device have a fresh breath of new life.

The HD7 features the same large 4.3-inch WVGA LCD capacitive touchscreen display. But, while the screen is large, and the colors are nice enough, in this day and age with Super AMOED and other high-end displays, it just feels like the display on the HD7 isn't "advanced" enough. Not that it's a bad thing, as the device's display in its own right is pleasantly surprising. As for the other features people should expect when the HD7 launches later this year for T-Mobile USA, here in the states, you'll get the same 1GHz Snapdragon processor under the hood, as well as the almost standard 5MP camera on the back. You'll be able to record 720p HD video with that camera, too.

In our initial hands on, we noted that the device feels great in the hand. Truthfully, it feels almost more streamlined than the HD2, and the whole thing just feels great. As for the kickstand on the back, though, we got the distinct impression that, under the wrong circumstances and pressure, it could be easily broken away from its home. But, that seemed to be the only bad part in our initial hands on. The screen's touchscreen is very responsive, and we were able to fly from screen to screen without issue.
