The Evo 4G may be expensive, but the price comes with all the comforts of the gadget. I love the 8 megapixel rear camera it provides. It's stronger than my DSLR that only has 6. I'd want to have this phone someday soon. I just need to sort out my current expenses because it's clearly killing my savings.

I've had mine for about a month now. I absolutely love it. I did find out how to make the battery life last longer. I now can make the battery last approx. 36 hrs depending on use. The camera is awesome, the features are even better. The only thing that I don't like on it is that you have to have head phones to play the FM radio and they don't supply the head phones. I also don't like that you can't remove the pre-existing apps that are on there when the phone is purchased. Other then that I'm glad that I switched over and got this phone

I got mine at 8am this morning at the local sprint store and I love it. The call quality is better, the service strength is stronger and it works perfectly. I am surprised by how impressive this thing is. I sit at a desk all day so I can plug it in and negate any battery issues. So far so good.

Major problem with EVO the phone is not a hands free unit. Android 2.1 does not support hands free use with a bluetooth. You can answer a call, speak and end a call using your bluetooth, but you can not have the phone make a call for you thru your bluetooth. You must physically hold the phone in close proximity to your mouth, access voice dial then speak the name or number into the phone. Every phone I have had in the past has had this capabilty, had I known the EVO lacked this very basic function I surely would not have purchased it. They say an upcoming Android 2.2 upgrade will remedy this flaw, but no one can give a date when the 2.2 upgrade will be available for the EVO. The Nexux phone by google uses the Android 2.2 OS and fully supports bluetooth capabilities. SPRINT needs to get off their ass and make this available NOW

I have had clear 4g service and it works vey well. After a users initial bout of enthusiasm 4g use will only be a small fraction of the total. Wi-fi can be switched on instead. A better way to approach this issue would be to compare the battery usage to the iPhone and other top smartphones instead of joining the parade of reveiwers following Mr. Mossbergs example.
Sprint says that the extra $10 is for the increased data usage expected, not the 4g connectivity. Also, the plan with the $10 is still cheaper than almost all the competition. I have seen many people claiming similar pricing plans while ignoring that those plans do not include unlimited data, or charges for GPS navigation or other things included with Sprint like unlimited text messenging.
Cameras should only be compared to other smartphones as only a fool would expect an included camera in a $450 phone to compare to a dedicated camera with a much larger lens.

I thought the TeleNav navigation thing was free with Sprint? I'm probably mistaken but their "everything" plans mention "unlimited maps and turn-by-turn directions", or is that separate and you still need the Telenav monthly subscription? If so, Sprint makes it kind of misleading in their plan specs! Still, if Google navigation works, at least the phone has that. Nice review, by the way.
