Appart from the front camera and having gingerbread out of the box, in many ways, this is a downgrade from the original Desire.

This is definitely not an upgrade for the Desire. It is much more a mild enhancement.

I’m pretty sure the Desire S is not meant as an upgrade at all for Desire HD users. More like a mid tier phone that will bring in new customers and possibly upgrades for current Desire users. It has a smaller screen because it is a refresh of the Desire form factor. I’m sure a Desire HD refresh will be along later this year.

I love my desire, and i do like the look of the Desire S. the only thing that bugs me about new phones now is that they come with those pesky touch sensitive buttons. I love the physical ones that original Desire has…

Likewise. The Desire S needed to be Desire HD screen size, Super Amoled screen quality, Dual Core processor, 16GB storage, Gingerbread 2.4 with new sense overlay with NFC.

Leaving out NFC because it would make the phone too bulky is total belushi.

The Desire S is 100% off my shopping list.

I bought the Desire HD and to be honest this will be a downgrade for me
I get a smaller screen
The same unibody
A worse camera (8mp 2x led flash on HD or 5mp 1 led on desire s)
The same processor
so no I’ll not be paying to get a worse phone and you shouldn’t either TBH I was hoping the Desire S will be awesome but it simply isn’t.

What am I missing here? This has a downgraded screen from the Desire, same camera, marginal processor upgrade and a slightly better battery.

Oh, a front camera… This is worse than the incremental upgrades that Apple provide.

Looks like I’ll be looking to a different phone company for a new phone this year.

Seriously – no built in storage???? This phone is all bad.

Is it worth it? Better than desire HD if yes I would wait before I bought the HD.
