HTC Desire HD hits Vodafone preorder; SIM-free delayed until late-October

Good news and bad, today, if you've been waiting for an HTC Desire HD.  Vodafone UK has just put the Android 2.2 smartphone up for pre-order, offering it free from October 14th with a new, two-year £35 agreement; however, if you're more interested in an unlocked, SIM-free version, you'll have to wait until the end of October.

That's because Google testing has supposedly delayed the 4.3-inch smartphone, according to retailer Clove, and so far the best ETA they have is the end of this month.  It will apparently affect all online retailers and resellers, too, so be wary of anybody saying they can get you an unlocked Desire HD sooner than that.

For its part, HTC tells us they have no official comment but do highlight the fact that they only said the Desire HD would be arriving sometime in October.  More details on the smartphone itself in our hands-on.
