Although it looks similar to HTC Evo, it is actually an improved version. Most significantly, both Desire HD and Desire Z uses the 2nd generation Snapdragon processor (MSM8255 and MSM7230 respectively), which features a new GPU called Adreno 205. Adreno 205 is MUCH faster than the GPU found in the current generation processors. These two phones WILL outperform the likes of HTC Evo, Nexus One and Droid Incredible.
