Nokia shot itself in the foot with management getting lazy and plain denying to move with the times. Symbian should have been killed at least 3 years ago and MeeGo should have been aggresively developed and supported. Stephen Elop = Epic fail!

Also, before we bash Nokia, lets not forget they're the ones that actually changed the world (and not Apple like many like to believe). They are the ones that made top notch phones that were affordable and drove an entire generation of mobile phone users all over the world. They were pretty much at the fore-front of everything mobile until about 4 years ago. Its very easy to forget what a huge market of mobile users Nokia enabled. Pretty much the whole world is benefiting from it, including rival OEMs. HTC is similar to the smartphone era, they're the ones that actually mass-marketed smartphones with great products and constant innovation. Its sad to see Nokia and RIM (who're almost on life support now) in this situation. HTC's situation is nowhere as bad and I'm sure they'll bounce back with a few class-leading devices again.

Not in years. Owned a few htc's tho. Good phones and what not, but they had a meteoric rise to fame while the other OEM's fumbled about trying to get to grips with the smartphone market. But, competition is hot with other companies that have more experience (Samsung) and so they're going to decrease in sales volumes.
