HP Veer 4G Is FREE At Best Buy, Now Ready For Pre-Order

The very first offering from HP's new WebOS smartphone range is the HP Veer 4G. Confirmed to launch for AT&T on May 15th for $99, the tiny device hasn't generated much excitement. Especially if you consider that an iPhone 3GS is only $49 now. But today's news that Best Buy will be offering the device for free may help boost some interest.

According to PreCentral, the HP Veer 4G will be available at Best Buy for free with a two-year service agreement. Best Buy will have only the white version to sell both onlne and in stores. Pre-orders can be placed, but requires a $50 upfront deposit that can only be refunded as a $50 Best Buy gift card.

The HP Veer 4G is an odd phone in the current climate of large displays and thin bodies. It features a 2.6-inch 320x400 touchscreen, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, triband HSPA, and a 5-megapixel camera. It will have 8GB onboard storage, WiFi, AGPS, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and a 910mAh battery good or up to 5hrs talk time and 300hrs standby. It will also be the first to run HP's WebOS 2.1.
