In an effort to expand the number of compatible applications, HP has just opened up the HP TouchSmart to third party developers. This should help bring more touch-friendly applications to the device.

The new move made it so the TouchSmart Application Developer Guidelines were released to third party developers. Now anyone can make programs for the HP computer. To go along with this, and to boost developer turnout, HP has started backing Capable Networks’ Touchsmart Community. This will make it so more people have access to the developer guidelines and makes it so developers have a place to talk and share ideas.

This TouchSmart Community is also running a contest in conjunction with all of this that will provide one lucky winner the opportunity to show off their application at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show in the HP booth. Sounds like a good deal to us!

Thanks, Peter!
