I got one of the firesale touchpads – I would convert it to Windows 8 in a second if I could. I am not seeing the ‘greatness’ of the webos that some are talking about. I would also have purchased a windows phone instead of a Droid if I could have found an equally priced phone (HTC – $60 for 2 – I do like the device). Someday we will enjoy real computing power on all of our devices – not these dumbed down OS’s and app everyone is so crazy over now-a-days (I believe windows 8 will be a major step in that direction).

The TouchPad was fully developed under the HP name and their Lab Engineers supervisión. It has nothing to do with Palm. What comes from Palm would be the WebOS, but if it is replaced by windows 8, then this product will have nothing to do with palm so there is no such… “palm related product”

What an incredible waste of assets that will thrown down the toilet by each and every company involved in this debacle. Anything dealing with Palm related hardware and/or software will be a mistake of catastrophic proportions. Palm related products are not even reletvent in that market anymore.

Well, I can’t argue with that. Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see Win8 on a Touchpad, or ZOOM or Galaxy for that matter

Sigh… the strength of the Touchpad was the OS, not the hardware. Ditching WebOS turns the Touchpad into just another tablet.

WebOS is sooo poor. In the UK quite a lot of websites don’t work correctly. Especially ones with popup style frames. I installed the Alpha of CM7 (android) and will never go back to Webos as I have more apps and websites work correctly.

The HP touchpad is great. I just got a 32GB model, and the tablet is way
better than many reviewers had me believing. First, the device is not
clunky or plastic-y – it’s just not made of aluminium on the back. It’s a
perfect size, and, I find it sits in my hand more comfortably than an
apple ipad, because over the rounded plastic bevels on the edges of the
touchpad. The touchpad works just as fast as any rival tablet, and so
this is comparatively satisfactory.

I’ surprised. I thought the ARM version of Windows will only support Tegra 2 and Tegra 3 SoC’s. Hopefully this is not true and the requirements are simply a “1 Ghz dual core chip or better and 1 gb RAM”.

No publicly available version of ARM. I wouldn’t be surprised if HP is able to get a prerelease ARM version to play with on a device or two. After all, Windows has to test their own operating system on ARM somehow.

Great news. Maybe I’ll be triple booting my HP Touchpad. WebOS, Android and Windows 8. $150 for 32GB is a damn great bargain.

This can’t be true. Windows 8 Developer only runs on x86 platforms as of now, no ARM. We probably won’t see an ARM based version till the first beta
