This could of been running DOS and i would have bought it… 99 should be the standard price for basic tablets of you can get a good laptop for 350… looking at the economy of scale, it is crazy people allow companies like Apple to chargd so much ipadz… but thats capitalism…

I too was one of the many unfortunates who got locked into the eBay/Paypal drama, and was pretty frustrated. But I figured a couple 100,000 people punched the BIN button simultaneously. It does make me wonder who the heck did manage to successfully complete a Touchpad transaction.

Ended up buying brand new one thru regular auction for about $260. Still a decent deal. Now to figure out how to load Android….

Lord almighty… I know that this will fall on deaf ears and is old news, but I can’t get over the complaining about not getting one of these and wanting to “punish” those that did.

Let me preface this rant with the fact that I personally gave up after 15 minutes of errors and timeouts and didn’t get one.

For you people that think it isn’t fair, it is my firm belief that you all are out of your F’ing minds. YOU WERE NOT ENTITLED TO ANYTHING!!! Perhaps this was a good thing for you folks to get just a small dose of reality. Maybe this will bring you down from that pedastle where you high and mighty aholes live where you get everything you want anytime you want it. Unfckinbelievable!

For goodness sake everyone, if you all care that much about getting your loved ones presents or getting yourself a new toy, just sack up and buy it at full price. Nobody is entitled to an HP Touchpad at such a deep discount. If the full price is too much to bear, then you just can’t afford a tablet. It’s really as simple as that. There’s no reason for all of this consternation; the frustration is understandable, but its inherent to buying things on eBay.

$298 came out of my account this morning. Received all the error messages Sunday night and never got conformation of the purchase. Paypal says HP is rejecting the money and I will get it back in my paypal account in 5-7 days. I guess I got further than most..I got to pay for mine…I just don’t get them…what a circus!

I was an eBay seller for years. This is typical eBay “not ready for prime time” yet again. I’m sure this debacle has soured even more users of the site. I left the platform for better run eCommerce sites like Amazon.

Heh this really pissed me off too. I never had any beef against HP but this just rubbed me wrong, and I will never buy from them again.

I had three computers and a mobile phone all trying to access the deal. I actually had no problem with the mobile version of ebay, but paypal I got an infinite # of error messages, you’d really thunk that these two HUGE companies would be able to handle this (it only lasted one hour tops)

why did you buy 6? i believe you will be selling it for double price…if so, then it is really frustrating because i tried 3-4 times having the touchpad till the cart and when i clicked confirm payment, if failed and showed none in the cart. I am sure there are many people like me who were there to buy one touchpad but they were not lucky…

this was so aggravating. 7 (eastern) to 10 ish i tried to get one. it would not go through. this was a tease as i see it. ebay might have been responsible but i have to say hp dumping them on the market at once did not help either. if ebay wasn’t as handy as walmart, i would boycott them both, hell i wanna burn my hp laptop now j/k. i guess i can deal with a china tab with a capacitive screen. they’re not horrible and i was going to put cm7 on the hp anyway. still a bunch of crap. it even messed up adding to my cart. i added 1 stylus and it came up with 2 in there saying i had won them both! lucky for me, the seller removed one after an email.

Not true I have a feedback score of 2 on ebay and very inexperienced at ebay. I kept getting them in cart and getting to the paypal crap screen that froze me out like everyone else. Weird thing is I ended up getting 1 32gb and it never asked for the phone number, maybe that is how some got “luck”?

I tried for a very long time as well but in the end did get one 32gb. It raped me with unexpected sales tax and I shipping but I still did it and it’s fine, hope I can figure out how to load android on it as I am very stupid when it comes to this kind of stuff.

be annoyed that hp did the sale through ebay and then emailed the details to employees. yeah, like that stood a chance of not becoming public information…

Also, I got 2 32gb and had 2 16gb get rejected after being in my cart. The thing is, I expected errors, delays and didn’t expect to even get one so getting 2 was gravy. All the people that think they are entitled to one or expected to be able to casually pick up 8 without delay or supply shortage need a reality check.

It appears HP had about 8000 of these and probably had a million accounts logged in with each trying to buy 8 apiece. Figuring the average person ordered 2, that’s 4000 people that got one out of a million which is 0.4% which means 99.6% of people that wanted one is pissed off today. You are not entitled to one, you just didn’t fall into the 0.4% lottery. Quit your bitching.

It shouldn’t have to come down to luck. HP and Ebay knew about the sale and the leak and should have been prepared for the high demand. I tried from the beginning of the sale and despite my attempts to add to cart or buy it now was unable to do so (although the count sold was steadily rising). I also think that for those of us who requested information about additional sales after the last firesale should have received notice about the sale and given the opportunity to enter a password or code for an advance sale maybe a couple of hours earlier. To be told SOL because I wasn’t lucky enough to receive something that I made a concerted effort to get is insulting. It shouldn’t be about luck and people who take advantage of the system to get 6 and gloat (or turn around to sale them on ebay for the same price I could pick up an IPAD) are beyond rude.

A couple of months ago, I got onto HP’s official TouchPad waiting list. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I received a message from HP that there would be no more supplies of the TouchPad.

I’ve moved on. Though I love my Palm Pre Plus, I’m eligible for an upgrade through Big Red and will get a Galaxy Nexus. I’ll do without a tablet for now. My wife and I share a small notebook computer, as well as an e-book reader.

The EPP prices on accessories like the dock and case are pretty good, if you have an employee purchase program account. I wonder which wireless keyboard was to be included in that accessory bundle, and still want to buy one.

Seems they “forgot” or something and added SALES TAX this time. Still kept doing your genius method on EVERY listing for three hours. I have nothing but a smarmy letter from HP encouraging me to try some of their other products. I would buy a wooden Abacus from a Flea Market before I would deal with any of these clowns again. I probably have carpel tunnel now from last nights shipwreck of a sale or should I say publicity stunt you guys pulled. Hp was releasing refurbished #hptouchpad for $99 and $149 for a 16 & 32 gb on their store on ebay. I was literally counting down the minutes and seconds and even marking it in my calendar. Needless to say, I was robbed. I had numerous attempts where the item was in my cart, about to pay for it in paypal, and about ready to hit confirm, it says my cart is empty. errors, errors, invalid items, errors, errors, errors, and 1000000xxx more errors!! There must be something in the water-cooler at HP, because you all seem really touchy about this, so I’ll try to clarify something for you. Not bullying… just trying to help.

don’t blame the people that were lucky enough to purchase. Blame HP instead. They “leaked” this on purpose, so that they would get this reaction. If this were really for HP employees, it would have been done on a company Intranet, not the largest auction site on the planet. This never was for HP workers only. That is just a marketing 101 trick to make Sheeple think that they actually have a chance to get one. Then, the next day, news outlets post articles about how popular the Touchpads are and how people are upset and it gets Sheeple talking about HP. HP, a company that, for lack of a better term, are dead in the hardware space.

Most of my clients that bought HP DV-9000 and earlier models have sworn off HP products after they all failed from the defective motherboards after only a couple of years. HP has refused to fix them.

Their printers are just as poorly made: I have the top of the line HP Photosmart Premium and that failed shortly after purchase. I have taken many OfficeJet 6500′s back to the store for clients. And the list increases.

Most of my clients stick to Dell or Lenovo for laptops and Brother for printers.

Yesterday’s debacle put another nail in HP’s coffin for me and my clients. I had them int he cart, went to pay which took 20 minutes and then the item was no longer valid, and I started exactly at 4:01PM PST.
